Ok, I been using iclone, daz3d, poser , unity, maya etc..

This question might be raised by many newbies

Scenario :
I downloaded daz3d ( or any other such editors)
I was excited and downloaded all type of add ons..
From gen to Gen 8

Some are not giving desired effect and some are complete messed up

Now..
Should I stay with the latest gen
Or use older gen

Addons for old gen can't be used for newer one and vice versa

Many of you had such startup
Please narrate your experience and advice for all newbies

From start up to development..

Your hours of experiences will save 100 over hours of errors

focus on one of them , for example- only genesis 8 , download all the clothes , skin textures , accessories , poses , face expressions , animations , body and face morph .
all the stuff that related to genesis 8

Gen 3 has more stuff but Gen 8 is catching up quickly.
As bad as it sounds stay away from V4. Almost anything new will be G8 with a few G3s. If you want TONs on content NOW then Id for G3. BUT if youre looking towards the future Id go G8 and whatever comes after that. 90% of what I render is G8 but Id have no issues with just using G3.

Iray is the "thing" now and mist venders appear to be either "forced" to use it or prefer to use it. Ive not messed with much out of Daz. Id suggest learning one till you get comfortable before you move to another. IMHO Daz will do almost everything a beginner could want and do it fairly well.

I personally only download G8 stuff now. I have a ton of V4, G2 and G3 stuff and will still very rarely d/l a G3 figure or outfit if I really need it for something. But 99% of what I d/l and what I use is G8. It's not failed me yet.

Yes but there are some amazingly good old clothes that using new shaders are really worth using. Just wish there was a quick and easy conversion. 2/3s of my HD was old V4 and G3 content but I deleted almost all of that for G8. G3 still has a few clothing items I cant part with but V4 is almost pointless because of the effort involved "for me" to get an acceptable fit. Ive even got a couple G1+2 things that I kept. Overall though, If I were to start 100% fresh again, Id go 90% G8 with 10% G3. If however someone makes a 99% quick fix for V4 to G8 content, Im going to revisit a LOT of content.
