What are/were they thinking? I can think of other more suitable programs for those specific game ready chars. And Daz doesn't even come close.
June 16, 2026 at 1:44 PM #2177682from the looks of it, they're trying to compete with FAB and they also uploaded the same products to FAB like a month or so ago.
the last time they did this (remember Morph3D that was DAZ's sister company, that led to it becoming their parent company when it was rebranded to Tafi?) was an absolute failure and nobody used it
June 16, 2026 at 3:16 PM #2177689They just lurch from one disaster to the next. :0/
June 16, 2026 at 9:22 PM #2177716They are miking every shitty thing they can with those and the Multilplex DO character. Its like they are about to run away with the last bags full of money and close the store. We get a month full of shit and MAYBE 1 cool item every other thursday, or maybe a random product that pops up unexpected.
June 16, 2026 at 9:32 PM #2177717i think theyre meant to be used in unity or unreal, not daz. the only good point about them is the interactive license at 4$ instead of 50$.
but why mix those asset into the same store? a serious indie game dev working on a commercial project will NEVER be interested to buy a furniture set with an interactive licenses at 50$. that shitty license is why the daz asset are not really used outside of the renpy community
June 16, 2026 at 10:29 PM #2177723Tafi has been trying its hardest to appear as a serious company playing on equal footing with the giants of the 3D industry. All these efforts look pathetic and fail time and time again. Instead of admitting that their core consumers are amateurs and creators of adult content and fully focusing on them, Tafi turns up its nose at such material and tries to force-feed its customers another useless product that nobody ever asked for. If I were a Tafi shareholder, I would fire the entire management and marketing team immediately—they are getting paid for absolutely nothing.
June 17, 2026 at 2:15 AM #2177731If I was a game developer, I wouldn't consider Daz assets seriously for any serious project for these reasons:
1) Daz holding their Genesis IP too close to its chest. IIRC, there was a discussion in their official forums that Genesis based game characters can only be shipped with the base game and cannot be used as downloadable assets in game. Afaik, this restriction was introduced in the licensing to plug a loophole to prevent content creators (PAs) from baking the Genesis base figure into their custom characters and selling them under the game developer license in other 3rd party stores. From Daz's perspective it makes sense to protect their Genesis IP even if the base figure is offered free of cost. But from a practical game development perspective, not being able to ship characters as part of DLCs or game expansions is a crippling constraint.
2) Assets are licensed as name/account based. Unlike most other major stores, usage rights of Daz assets (for game development) are restricted to the account holder, to keep the licensing costs low. If there are multiple developers working in a game project that needs to work with a single Daz asset then the GDL/interactive license had to be purchased for each of their accounts, and since the interactive licenses cannot be purchased unless the account already owns the base license of the asset, you can see how quickly the licensing cost scales up with the number of developers in a project. Any serious game development company would rather negotiate a separate bespoke licensing contract than use the standard EULA which is targeted for solo indie developers or casual projects. This should also explain the current state of their gaming presence.
June 17, 2026 at 6:23 AM #2177742I know they're meant for Unity or Unreal and not Daz, hence the "game ready". But the quality is horrible. Ever since gen9, the quality of products is declining and this is just a slip further down the slope.
June 17, 2026 at 9:34 AM #2177763Yes, there has been a general sharp decline in quality of output since the G9 launch.
Whilst it is a shameful situation, I'm pleased I am not the only one seeing it.
