DAZ Studio 6 is here!
June 4, 2026 at 5:24 AM #2176650Any new and notable features?
June 4, 2026 at 7:04 AM #2176662Apparently an AI assistant to shape strand based hair. And a viewport that's possibly even more laggy than ever before.
June 4, 2026 at 7:07 AM #2176663Will it work side by side with 4+ or will that be removed as usual....
June 4, 2026 at 7:24 AM #2176666I will install in a new directory and won't change your DS4x install. But as far as I am concerned this is the only positive about it.
June 4, 2026 at 7:36 AM #2176670After reading comments on YouTube and the Daz forums, I won't be installing 6. Not a fan of AI chatbots and still no improvement on rigging and animating. Time to dive more into Blender and others.
June 4, 2026 at 9:16 AM #2176684No G9.1 or G10 then?
June 4, 2026 at 9:48 AM #2176688does it loads all the morphs installed and makes it imposible to work nicely, or it only load needed ones? that's the only improvement I need at the moment
June 4, 2026 at 10:10 AM #2176690I'll wait until tomorrow or later tonight. Would need to remember what Scripts I use.
June 4, 2026 at 10:13 AM #2176691What a disappointment! Figures or scenes still don't load any faster than before. On my setup (RTX3090), rendering times have skyrocketed. If opening old scenes, assets using autofit won't load.
The lack of colors in the UI is also annoying. Everything is gray now.
Only benefits: clearing scenes or closing the app is faster now. Default HDRI map don't load every freaking time.June 4, 2026 at 10:14 AM #2176692Take a moment to check out YouTube and at least like the interesting comments. There are still some there.
June 4, 2026 at 10:52 AM #2176701lol, lmao even
June 4, 2026 at 11:00 AM #2176702I noticed those earlier. I still have 4.23 on my old machine. Glad that both versions will work.
One thing I have noticed that newWindowScript doesn't work. Might see what they are saying about this on daz3d. I think this is upto vendor to fix.
Another thing I found - Premier Functions aren't working.
June 4, 2026 at 1:07 PM #2176712DAZ 6 feels vibe coded... a lot more bugs and crashes. the beta version was much more stable (prior to them removing the year from the name), and i feel like they just used Claude and rushed it out because it was taking so long to make, since it was most likely supposed to be released last year or something.
June 4, 2026 at 1:27 PM #2176714I d/loaded and installed it on Tuesday. Install Manager doesn't show any newer versions available, so I think that was it.
Not sure I actually need an AI agent in the thing, but if it has any agentic functions, maybe it can be put to use for minor script-like tasks?
I don't think it was vibe-coded per se - software dev is a bit of an evolution, and you don't just disrupt/rearrange a workflow and toss in AI at the last minute before product launch.
