Actually, I don't know how many members there are in ZoneGFX... I guess more than 5000... (Maybe I'm not sure...)
If the Admins provide me with the data, it will be appreciated...(An estimate, since it can oscillate...)
The idea I propose is to create a "cluster" among all members, and generate a "FREE super render farm" for Iray (for now...).
This would involve creating a parallel network between members who want to collaborate, and "offer" their computer for rendering tasks "in small pieces". That is, if you have two Nvidia GPU's, and you are not using them, while you are in "idle...", put them to work on a common render project, that may take hours on your own computer, but if we add all the CPUs and GPU's of the group, your render can be done in seconds...
Shall we try?
This comes to me from watching the WP Guru video, and the "Iray server" in render tab, advanced...:That would require a list of IP addresses for anyone taking part, that would presumably, need to be publically accessible. I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't be comfortable sharing that information on a pirate site...

I don't mean zonegfxDOTcom, but an external host, with VPN or FTP access, (even a torrent... can work..).
It is an idea "still in its infancy", since the iray Server costs about 300$, while the trial is for 30 days. I'm going to try it, on a private level, and see the results.
The ideal would be a Linux host with the Iray Server, but I'm afraid it doesn't exist...
And, obviously, "cracking" the trial server... 😀My reasons for not being involved are twofold.
#1 The public sharing of IPs. As of right now my IP only shows in the logs for this site which the general public can't see.
#2 While I have zero issues with nude or sexually explicit renders, some people on this site may do renders for content I find personally objectionable and I am assuming each computer has to download the scene and do its part in creating the final render. By objectionable I refer to racist material and/or quasi-legal stuff such as shota/lolicon. You can't deny some of the people who lurk on this site probably do such and I'd rather not have my PC involved in such which can't be prevented. This would be doubly bad for people who live in countries where shot/lolicon is 100% illegal.
As for "cracking the trial server." I should upload my copy of Iray Server Version 3.3 | Build 334300.2780. I need to see if the crack works on a newer copy. The one I have works fine but newer can sometimes be better.

@Abad, I don't think YOU understand and you've also misquoted me; I said I wouldn't be comfortable sharing my IP address on a pirate site which, in case it wasn't obvious, is because it gives anyone (copyright holders or their lawyers for example) wanting to know my 'real' location, ISP or identity an easy shortcut. Even if you moved the idea off of the zone, it still started here and you can bet that the content creators, the stores and/or their legal teams keep a close eye on what goes on here.
@Oldwolf also makes a good point about having no control over what other people render. I've got no problem with NSFW content (it's mostly what I render myself) up to a point but my country has some laws that essentially mean that I could be prosecuted for creating illegal or obscene material, if it was generated on my equipement, even if I had no control or knowledge of it. That's prosecuted for creating, not storing or being in possession of, and it comes with much stronger punishments.Thirdly, who's paying for all the electricity? My PC pulls nearly a KW when it's rendering and at ~$0.40 a kWH, I'm not sure I'd be up for or able to pay for other people to do so for the 12 or so hours a day I'm not using it...

I tryed it, but say "No compatible bridges avalaible.". I use Daz v21, 20, 15, 10, and always the same...
In Win 10 Pro 22H2...Well, @oldwolf , I try to decompile the "new" version, and compare with the "patched" of the old 3.3 in IDA Pro...
It seems affect to "iray_server.exe" and "libneuray.dll".

And do you think that all this "5000" people,.. let run his/her PC 24h a day? Think about it.. As you know, we have climate issues and I try not to have my computer running 24 hours a day. That's what I'm trying to say.
@lucafeelgood , I use BOINC...and never 24 h at day.. I can shutdow the laptop, and resume the task...

The funniest thing is to be "the invisible man" wet.
But...I've got a dynamic IP, so I'm out. But.... think about it for a moment. Currently there is at least one person for whatever reason reporting the pics on Zone to IMGUR or where ever in an attempt to have the pics taken down for copyright.
Now you're talking about a network of personal IPs. All it would take would be one incorrect pic to wind up on the news as being part of an International Child Pron ring. You don't think some zealot would join your network specifically with that in mind?
its not a bad idea in theory, but lot of people have made some good valid points against it. However, I know commercial render farms DO exist, and I assume somehow a lot of the concerns here have been addressed in the commercial render farms. Not sure exactly how they handle it, but they seem to be still around.
Like @gts6 I think it does sound good in theory, but like the other posters, I would have serious concerns.
Whilst I have no problem whatsoever with adult NSFW content or, for that matter certain political works which others might - and are entitled to - find objectionable, it's the possibility of the vile stuff that La_Pucelle mentioned troubles me the most.
As for the commercial render farms; I imagine that they continue to exist due to strict rules and regulations.
@Abad Well, good luck with your project. I am sure you will get plenty of volunteers when you insult people disagreeing with you.
