If it had just been a posting for a link to a free item, that'd have been one thing. It was a posting of a free item on the blog to gain points. When I get home from the hospital I'll post a link for the Slave Leia outfit for Genesis 8 female, if you'd like =)
If they put reupload the file to their mega accounts and supply the link I don't see why it would be a problem. It's 50 points. Like you said you could just click the source link and download it from there.
A lot of free items that get posted on the Zone are items from DeviantArt or ShareCG (which last I checked was closed to new members). Having someone post it here is a huge help because we are either not following DeviantArt and would have missed it or don't have an account to download it on ShareCG.
The 50 points should be the payment for the promotion and the reuploaded mirror link. ZoneGFX does a great service to the community by functioning as an archive for products (both free and paid) that get taken down by their creators or gets lost when they switch store fronts.
Someone would be more likely to keep a file archived on their mega account if they were still gaining points from it.I think everyone wins tbh. If you end up losing a few points before realizing the items were free, eventually you figure it out and start using the source link. The people that don't figure it out just downloads the file and moves on. No real harm.
Of course it'd be nice if uploaders would add a "This is a free item" in the description of the post. It used to be a feature, I don't know why they took the option out to make a post free. It could honestly not be their intent.
I have posted a link to amyaimei's freebie area of their DA page in the Free Resources forum. Lots of decent items there to be had.
Yeh thanks, I saw that and there's lots of good stuff. When I got lower down the page I recognised the items so I must have been there before, or maybe some are on ShareCG too.
Yes, on ShareCG, too. I do a lot of comic character/costume creation, so a lot of her stuff is right up my alley.
