So I have an issue and I am hoping this is the correct spot to post this.
I'm very new to DAZ Studios but I have a background with other 3D software so hoping someone can point me in the right direction in the program with this one.
I am trying to get a figure to "interact" with a preloaded scene. Specifically, my character is sitting on the ground that has grass mat props around it. Several blades of grass are poking up through the characters leg, foot and hand. Is there a way to morph the grass prop in those specific areas around where the figure is sitting so they don't poke through? I could raise the figure up but they would be so far up that they look like they are floating. And I can't make the grass prop smaller because it would throw the scale of the grass off compared to the other patches of crass around it.
Any help would be appreciated.
April 24, 2022 at 12:22 AM #1799475I would use Mesh Grabber to push the offending grass down/away from the character's legs. The default radius setting is a bit large so reduce that if necessary. Turn off the Falloff and Rotate options so you can see what you're doing. I just used it to push parts of a beard behind a surgical mask... it's a real lifesaver.
Edit - I've had DS crash a few times when changing back to another tool so save the scene after you finish with the Mesh Grabber tool.April 24, 2022 at 1:49 AM #1799488Boss Mode:
make the grass a dForce surface and have your model actually displace the grass by sitting on it. 🙂April 24, 2022 at 7:40 AM #1799533April 24, 2022 at 8:35 AM #1799567Hehe, just thinking outside the coffee mug. 🙂
CEO Mode:
don't try to make all the grass a surface, use geom tool to assign a material group for those few blades. Make that material dForce dynamic (otherwise you might have grass falling out of the world :O )April 24, 2022 at 8:58 PM #1799817Einstein Mode - let the grass poke through and postwork it out in PS or similar.... in 2 minutes.

I did try the post-render PS editing option and it worked pretty well. But if there is something I can use in the future to keep it\from happening and having to edit each image that would be better. Plus if I want to do an animation of something I think the in-studio tools might work better.
Thanks all
