I'm here because I "return too much" according to Daz, so I have no way of testing stuff out before I buy it unless I download it. I spend a good chunk on Daz each month, so I'm annoyed. I've been rather frustrated with Daz for a while now and I think this might be what causes me to stop spending so much money there. I'm sure with Daz constantly changing things for the worse, I'll be in good company before long.
Has anyone actually been banned from Daz for pirating? I have a huge library... getting banned and losing all that would be horrible. I only intend on getting a few things here and there, and I don't use DazCentral, just DIM.
Thanks, and thanks for this great site too.

I generally do give a good reason. Some of my purchased items have been shitty, to be blunt, as you said. Missing parts, errors, even crashes, and I have a good PC. I have had a couple of orders that I returned because I frankly overspent, and that's what landed me in the Daz doghouse this last time, but I'd say about 95% of the time, something is wrong with whatever I bought.
March 12, 2022 at 11:18 PM #1784341Unless they can somehow directly link an asset that you post here, to your account, then I don't see it happening. Assets don't have account specific codes, so I can't see them being able to ever pull it off.
March 13, 2022 at 9:26 PM #1784672If you're worried just give things a cooling off period before uploading. That's what I do. I've got a batch of stuff i'll be uploading this week that i've done just such with.
March 14, 2022 at 1:51 AM #1784737I think Daz Corp. realise there's not much they can do about piracy and the Mega takedowns are a result of PAs complaining. Daz gave up on DRM and encryption back in 2016 after a big outcry from users.
OT LOL ".. that I've done just such with." Ma Arn. Nothing wrong with that phrase but imagine how hard it would be learning English with phrases like that.March 14, 2022 at 8:43 PM #1785003Dealers of virtual goods are almost NEVER going to ban someone from future purchases... since they are most interested in making a profit, it would be nonsensical to prevent you from throwing money at them at any time. They instead invest in anti-piracy measures that either prevent or frustrate you to the point of finally making that purchase. It's what keeps vendors ahead of the statistical curve.
The ONE example I've ever seen in my entire life, was IDA Pro / Hex-Rays. If somehow they caught you using a bogus license, you would be forever blacklisted. Then again, with a 7-10k pricetag and the nature of their product, I'm sure they could afford to be white-knight-ish about it.
March 16, 2022 at 7:19 AM #1785392I once clicked on a product link on a pirate site, can't remember which one, and was met with a message saying I had been banned from the site forthwith, apparently because I was now classified as a pirate by IP address. The product link was probably a plant on the site rather than anything nefarious by any pirates themselves, and set up for just that purpose.
