I figured I would open a thread so people could link to the new profiles of these and other published artists that are selling somewhere new.
FYI Everyone, Rarestone is no longer at Daz3D, the TAFI idiots over there threw Rarestone out of Daz along with at least 10 other vendors we know. Many have left to GumRoad, or Patreon or other selling platforms. This includes vendors like Marcius, Emma & Jordi, and Rarestone and more.
It’s REALLY ANNOYING when purchases you have made go MISSING on Daz3D with the mass throwing away of vendors.

November 10, 2021 at 1:47 PM #1747445Rarestone was on renderosity as Raven+ and then changed the name to Ravenstone. His/her products disappear very fast from the store. He had some tatoos (now gone) and a couple of characters (also gone). Overall, I found his/her characters good on the promos, but actually looked terrible on my renders.
Marcius is now on Renderhub as... Marcius.
EmmaAndJordi are on Artstation.
November 10, 2021 at 2:59 PM #1747464That solves many a mystery 🙂 Thanks Legolas18. Yeah I remember starting out with Daz and Rarestone's Minami character, I tried all kinds of lighting but couldn't get close to the same skin appearance as in the promos. Even nowadays with the more recent characters, but I like all the extra included stuff included like the clothing, layered makeup and the hair. Her older less stylized characters look nicer to me than the newer ones.
I hope they can get good support on the new platforms.

I'm out of the loop, what's the TAFI thing?

I can still see her products at rendo as ravenstone, but some have disappeared. Weird.
And I completely agree: her promos are stunning, but the chars frequently disappointing.EmmaAndJordi are on Artstation.
They are at artstation for a long time, but they only sell there graphic tools, brushes, and other PS stuff.
Their main store with daz assets is at gumroad https://emmaandjordi.gumroad.com
November 11, 2021 at 4:01 AM #1747695@terahurts Hadn't heard of it before this thread either, but apparently it's this: https://maketafi.com/daz3d
I've only found limited info on them, but their website says this about Daz:
"Tafi’s subsidiary, Daz 3D, has led the 3D industry with morphable, mashable, and versatile characters, compatible content and other 3D assets for over 20 years.."Wikipedia says that Daz created Tafi, a spinoff focused on the game-ready market. That Daz is listed as their subsidiary and not the other way around doesn't necessarily mean anything. It's not uncommon for odd shifting of corporate title ownership where a parent company ends up being owned by the company it created. Not sure what - if any - relationship that has to do with the current managerial practices.
November 11, 2021 at 10:45 AM #1747781does anyone know why some of the artists are leaving Daz ?
November 11, 2021 at 1:07 PM #1747856November 11, 2021 at 2:30 PM #1747886I have a theory that most of the artists realize that giving up 50% of the price to a website owner can become tedious. Renderosity I think will give you 60% of the cut if you go exclusive with them, but compare that to app developers who get to keep 70% of the pricetag from Apple and Google...
I can't prove it, but I bet places like Renderhub gives a bigger percentage to the vendor. DAZ And Rendo have the draw of name recognition and a big bunch of people with open wallets to pick, but places like Renderhub are up-and-coming, and have gained enough recognition to make it worth going exclusive there. Then you have places like Gumroad, which, because of its pro CG and broad-market exposure, makes niche-market DAZ look puny.
Exciting times, I think.
November 11, 2021 at 3:14 PM #1747910That's a real shame if the stores are taking such a big cut from the artists , I'd think 10-20% would be more than fare and as far as being lazy somethings take time to make and ppl have their own real life to deal with.
November 11, 2021 at 6:55 PM #1748001DAZ has always taken 50%. I think certain exclusive PAs got an extra 10% cut out of it. Renderosity has always taken 50%, but only 40% if you go exclusive with them.
Seriously, it's a racket.
November 12, 2021 at 2:59 AM #1748074DAZ was also not keeping up with payments due to their vendors. I have heard stories from several vendors that there is no consistency in regards to payments. Sometimes waiting for up to 3 months for their due pay. pretty effing ridiculous.
