Hello all,
By creating a .dsa file, we have the possibility to add notes in daz studio products.
But when, I use the French language, all the letters with accent are not recognized.
è, é, â, ê, ô, û ... This is probably due to the native language of daz studio and there is a way to get around it or not ?MessageBox.information("\Perhaps due to the native language of daz studio. Peut-être dû au langage natif de daz studio.\n", "Info", "&OK");
Thank You.
July 3, 2021 at 11:45 AM #1708340That is probably because the people at Daz are sadly unaware that any other language or text set exists in the world other than American English... I believe that they are not using the international accepted symbol set in their programming, so it sees anything beyond the default US English Symbol set as "garbage".
Sadly in programming its a safety feature not to allow special symbols in data where manipulation could be devastating. Many characters even in the standard symbol set can be used to "hijack" code, or jump lines of code out of the DUF/DSF/DSA etc files and do horrible things to your computer from within the code.
I write notes in GERMAN, and we use Umlauts and S-Zed letters which are not in the US English character set either. For every character outside of US English there is an equivalent to get around it. For me if its an äöüß I can use ae oe ue or ss. I'm not sure how that works with French characters with circumflex and egout etc, but there must be a way.
I don't see Daz ever doing anything to help us non-US-English native speakers, and think about it, the Russians have the entire Cyrillic alphabet, and Chinese and Japanese have Kanji, Mandarin and Cantonese and are forced to turn their words into US-English characters.
Just my thoughts and my factual knowledge about Daz Studio and foreign characters sets.
Regards,
AnjaBear

July 3, 2021 at 1:41 PM #1708380Well, as you can see in the attached picture, I don´t have any issues with "foreign" chars ...
This is more related to your machine configuration, I guess... so don´t loose your hopes, it's possible to do it. Don't blame Daz about it 🙂

Edited to add :
Also, No problem with German.
July 4, 2021 at 9:32 AM #1708554Hello andrea,
Thank you for your participation but something strange happens ...
If I use the *Script IDE window* and run the script, it actually works fine for the French language .... But if I double clicking on the file in my tab product, the sentence in French is not recognized correctly.
Sorry for my poor English Langage. -
