    https://zonegfx.com/dforce_french-twist-hair-for-genesis-8-females/

That asset is free on Renderosity and was again posted by our well known member who likes to post free stuff to get points.

Just want to give my thoughts on this issue.

Although we have a section in the forums to post free stuff to, not everyone checks it and after a certain amount of time stuff just gets buried like all forum posts do and there's no good way to search the forum for specific items (ie. hair) to see what free things might match those results.

Personally, I would rather have the free stuff found in the forums show up with everything else on the front page and more searchable in the future because of that placement. To me it's worth something that other people are finding free things that I very well might not find on my own. The fact that they're free instead of paid for is irrelevant to my use of the item since I'm getting it here for next to nothing anyway. A simple check of the product link included with a blog post would show me it's free somewhere else if I felt like doing the bare minimum to check a product out before downloading it anyway. Then I could choose to get it for free myself or thank the finder by purchasing it with points here.

Not only am I fine with people posting free stuff to the blog, it's my preference. They've earned the points they end up getting by finding the product for me in the first place. Plus with proper links to the product in the post, the artist themselves might get a bit of exposure, which is surely part of the reason some post free items.

Regarding the Posting of Free Items:
    – Please DO NOT post products into the normal blog which are free to download elsewhere from another source.
    – If you do wish to post such items, please post them in the ‘Free Resources’ section.
    – Items found to be in violation of this rule will be removed without notice once discovered or reported.
    – If your items fall under this rule you will be given the opportunity to post them in the ‘Free Resources’ section.
    – If you choose not to then we invite any of our members to do so.
    Regarding Download link expiration:
    – After 30 days the download link will not show up, Your have to open link again using point.

As stated, I was just giving my thoughts on the issue (posting of free items), not on this specific instance of the issue. That FAQ you posted wasn't written in stone, it's changed over time and will continue to change over time. There are in fact several outdated FAQs that have clearly changed over time here 😛 I'm trying to have a discussion about the general idea of posting free items.

Livingpixels' suggestion works for me too since my main concern is for a properly working searchable database of resources. Many free items are just as good as paid for items and I don't see why they shouldn't be equally searchable. System optimization is smart, not lazy. Not sure why personal judgements are being made about people in what should just be a civil discussion of ideas.

"A better solution would be an option to post FREE ITEMS on the blog clearly marked as such, for NO points. This eliminates confusion, makes them easy to find, and doesn’t reward members who paid nothing and are trying to reap benefits they have not earned."

I agree with this, and I think it has been done (The product is on the blog marked as free and for no points), maybe we are going to do this from now on, which I think would be good.

The problem is not that free items get posted, the problem is that this special member here is posting them fully knowing that they are free and doesn't marks them as free. He does that fully knowing that he kinda scams people out of their points.

He actually needs to be banned or something or blocked from being able to post stuff.

Like Catnip said, the post is marked as free and doesn't cost any points. Was that a direct change made by the mods? I was actually hoping it was a change to the "add post" function, but having checked it I don't see any option for posting things for no points. I'm a little surprised there's no option for "free" in the custom content add section.

    TL;DR
I support the idea expressed by LivingPixels, jrnk, CatNip23
At a certain moment I caught myself thinking the same thing.

As for people who do it on purpose

You won't accidentally become a asshole in life. You have to work here.

When I was just starting to publish something, I unknowingly made a mistake, not with selfish intent. I posted a couple of things available for free from the authors themselves. They seem cool, and I couldn't find them here. Then I thought that in some sense I might be stubbornly living the zone user, saving him from having to register on another site. Silly idea. It's a little ashamed for her now.
Even at that moment, a question flashed in my head, why can't I make a publication that will be downloaded without spending points.

Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.

Unfortunately, I don’t know who those few lucky ones were to use the points. I would gladly return them.

I quickly realized my mistake, having received a clarifying letter from the Hunter that I should have opened my eyes wider and re-read the frequently asked questions (RTFM, dude). We have successfully deleted those posts. Thx Hunter for understanding my stupidity instead of ban.

Then I sat on the form in the section of free resources. I added something there from myself. Having gained experience in using the various possibilities provided.
In general, searching separately in the forum and separately in the blog is really not the most convenient story. This can be called laziness. But laziness is still the engine of progress in many areas. And the point here is not only in her, but also in banal convenience. And now I thought, are not convenience and laziness equal?) It doesn't matter.

I am not a graphomaniac, but sometimes I began to feel myself as one.

Been going on for over 2 years. Don't see the mods all of a sudden cracking down on it now. At least repackaging content seems to have stopped. Just stopping by to spread love and joy while I pay some debts with points forwarded to me from friends. Thanks for allowing me to pay off the nice people that shared with me and the community. The uploaders were nice enough to understand and wait for the points. 3 strike rule should be imposed on uploaders posting free content. But in the long run, does it really matter? 30 years from now when I'm taking a dirt nap I wont care in the slightest.
