I have some files from older Daz products that I'd like to share but they're in the original Daz installer exe format. They're still "alive" on the site. Is that ok to share if placed inside an archive format?

    I don't see why not.
Make sure you mention the fact thet they are exe format in the description blurb though.
There are some folk who are very nervous of exes.

    Reformat? Reinstall? <shudders>

I have a lot of those old exe's myself. What I do is run them and installed them into an empty runtime (no uninstaller created), then zipped up that runtime and clear it out. This does not work on all of thoses exe though. Some of them will check to see if a specific item is intalled and refuse to install because they do not find the item required.

I saved the zipped file with the exe and install from it. I keep the exe though just for the tickles and giggles of it. If I post it, I will usually post both. The exe for those who like to have it for there archive and the zipped for those who do not or those NOT using WinDOZE.

I covered how I deal with it in the first post here:

Provided you take a little care, exes are not a big deal.

most of the older exe files ive seen are fairly small.
Could posdibly use an online checker. I have one running in backround always since websites can try to force a download.
And a backup to double chech a suspicious file since one might not catch everything.

Ive been burned before but I still take the risk.
Even some file share sites auto check content now.

Thanks all for the responses. I included both the zip from a generic folder install and the original exe. Those old installers made you choose whether it was poser or daz install too.
