Now I do realise that G8F & I think also G3F load all morph data available by default.
As an experiment, I created another My Library and a 'fresh' installation of G8F expecting it to load quickly & with a bare miminmum of morphs loaded.
It seems this hasn't worked, as rather than reading the data file in its own local 'My Library' it seems to be loading all the other morph files from the original My Library.
Firstly is there a way I can trace what it is loading & where from & secondly force it to load from the local Data folder?

    Thanks for any constructive input.

    🙂

I tried something like this as well and had the same issue.

I think I renamed the morph file location and it still looked looked for it.

I just deleted everything and installed only what I thought I woukd use. But its filling up quick again. Even trying to load the developers model still loads morphs.

A great solution would be a script that skipped all morphs till you decide to apply them.

    Thanks for the input, Adam.

I'm still wondering if there is some kind of work around.

If not it is merely a matter of starting afresh & doing what I have advocated in the past, that is deleting the character installation when you are done, I suppose.

A script that had tick boxes for which morphs you wished to load would be excellent.
I doubt it is possible though.

Kind of like the old days with generation 4, which would ask you what you wanted to load. =^-^=

    Exactly.
Inject the ones you actually intend to use. 🙂

all morphs go into "Your library folder"\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs
if that is empty also no morphs are loading.

Yeah, I am with that, Sara, but it is apparent that it isn't reading from the newly created My Library/Data folder, which I only have the basic entries, but the original one with loads of character morphs.

    HI all,
I have hit a brick wall with this too, my loading time for G3F and now G8F (and G8M is threatening with all these monsters around) becomes ridiculously long (while V4 or G2F is a breeze). I tried to find a way to save my characters with only needed morphs to no avail, I even tried to find comments in Daz forums, almost no interest was elicited (probably because only pirates have so many morphs that it slows things....) note that even a simple parenting/grouping becomes a nightmare.
Any idea welcome, it seems there was an option to save characters with limited morphs in previous DS versions, now gone.... A true morph injection script would be so great....

Just copied the G8F duf file into a newly created Library. As the .duf file does not contain any information beside material settings, so no other file paths I would say it is stored in the Daz Studio database. So I guess you would need a seperate installation of Studio with it's own DB but I think you can only install one Studio and one database at least on Windows. As far as I remember even if you install Studio and Studio beta on your computer it's still using the same database.

Yes, I think that is the issue. :0/

A load favorites only would be great. I could set up scenes for different styles without loading every morph every time.

Its not a solution, but "even a simple parenting/grouping becomes a nightmare" does not seem to be an issue with the 4.11 beta. It is certainly a killer with 4.10, I would agree with that.

I also think clothes contribute morphs, not just characters. This might explain why Sara1985 was still seeing slowdown with just G8F and no other characters, the morphs migth be coming from clothes

If that is the case then, G8F is probably not just loading from it's own root data path? :0/

At the moment, its gut feel rather than proven fact. I can find plenty of examples of clothes loading morphs to reshape themselves to fit the character. I haven't found an example of a DUF/DSX file for a clothing item that contains morphs which have parameters of a character as their target. Only the latter would be definitive evidence that clothes morph characters. I keep looking at this, its not a quick test as files have to be opened in a text editor and inspected. But my gut feel still persists, there's a smell somewhere ...

At one time I deleted tons of content to make room. OBJ files, Character textures, environments, ect... I only kept morphs, a few textures and environments. I would even install just the morphs off a new character rather than the full character.

Needless to say, I deleted my entire daz section and started over. It was taking (guess from memory) 3-4 minutes to just load G8 base. Add 2 minutes for a complex scene and Id go make a sandwich before it loaded.

Im probably going to do the same again eventually. I dont come close to using everything I DL. Its nice to have installed but dealing with the load frustration isnt worth it.
