Hi Everyone. I never post here but have been compelled to share my 2 cents, which is more like 25 cents since I think this will be long. First, I do want to thank you all for having this wonderful free resource to share items. It helped me decide whether or not I was going to continue to learn Daz and Blender without a major investment (I was an AI image prompter and RL "found items" artist only before this). I cannot express how thankful I am!
I totally agree with a lot of what is said here on both sides of the argument, however, I fear that no matter what is done there are those "subscription" pirate websites that will always take the shared items from here and upload it on their servers. This is one of the primary reasons I have chosen to not refill brand new items as quickly as I once did. Now I choose to post items at a much later date. Unfortunately, I do not think there is anyway to stop that. It is awful to choose to not publicly post something (on a free pirate site) and then see it else where shared and only available if you pay a subscription . . . for a pirated item that you know the person did not purchase themselves.
It took me a while to figure out this website when I first joined in 2024. I have learned to watch, wait, and observe how the culture works before making any assumptions. But not everyone does this and a rules update is perfect, but, it wont stop items being shared on non-free pirating websites which is what really bothers me most of all.
It does get annoying when multiple refills are done immediately after sharing on this website using items I purchased, however, I really do not care if someone posts an item I shared to fill a request for points using the item at a later date (2+ months). If I decide to share a new item I have been writing in the fill request that it is ok to reshare publicly "on the blog only" and not fill requests or other websites. I have been too busy in my daily life to monitor this so I cannot comment on whether or not this has done any good. I admit, 100%, that I just forget about it and I know others may be asking for it.
Side note - I also followed the guidelines for how to remove trackers from items to help cover myself as well. That post is golden IMO and maybe a link in the request post and/or elsewhere should be highlighted for new users.
I hope this all made sense. Its early for me and coffee is needed.
