I am with Doodlebug 100% on this. While I am not new to the community, I am fairly new to sharing my assets as of January this year. And the amount of refilling and sharing to other sites after people have been explicitly told not to is kinda ridiculous.
Regarding refilling, my only 2 cents to add is that I can see only ONE scenario where a refill may occur without repercussion which is if ANOTHER member of the community has purchased the item as well so they were not on the original fill request. If you choose not to put your items on the blog, again, that is your choice. But you shouldn't be able to stop someone else from doing that if they purchased the item outright. The reason I mention this is that other blogs where thieves reside are capitalising on this. If someone shares in a fill request then doesn't share on the blog AT ALL, these people will take that item and reup to their blog sharing it with their entire community and the wider internet.
There's a select group of people within this community who choose to do whatever they want regardless of rules the Mods/owner may set. I started out sharing all the assets I bought until this started happening to me every time I shared something new. And like DB I could fill a lot more recent requests but choose not to because I know these assets will be taken and reupped elsewhere by someone else.
I want to be able to share the items (I have purchased) when I choose. If I want to reup elsewhere afterward, that too should be my choice, not someone else's. I am paying for these items to share with THIS community specifically, and this is where those items should remain unless they are put up on the blog or the person that purchased the item chooses to upload elsewhere.
April 8, 2026 at 6:20 AM #2171263lets say a YYMEMBER fills a request for SUBJECTG9. 3 weeks go by and another request is posted. After 4 more weeks SUBJECTG9 still hasn't been filled a second time by YYMEMBER.
Is it then our responsibility to contact YYMEMBER to post it? What if I brought it and want to fill the request because YYMEMBER hasn't refreshed it? Should I have to contact every poster in the last 6 months to make sure its ok to post content because they were the first person to fill it? Is it every new members responsibility to ask what has and hasn't been filled before they became a member?
At some point it becomes ridiculous to try and keep track of who did what, when and under what restrictions the poster imposed on the content. What was wrong with the initial way bounties worked? The content was paid, filled and posted at the same time. I can tell you it was about the time I stopped sharing. When every PM had a contract attached to it and points became a priority over sharing.
This is the hub for 90+ percent of all daz shared content. I cant recall many torrents locked behind pay walls but thats changed. At least the places I visit now are free. Places host tons of music, games, movies, programs and Ive not once been asked not to share them. Tons of free cracks/viruses, Mods, art, magazines, books, ect.. all for free. Cant recall ever being asked not to seed a link.
I was so oddly proud of my first KAT post and being the first person to upload a V4 character I brought. I even included a signature. I use to add ZONEGFX edits into my uploads here so people would know where they came from.Somewhere along the way we've lost something. What is it we require to share? Respect? I can accept that. I wouldn't want to give to someone who doesn't respect my effort but I never got it through seeding. Points hording? How many do whales have and what does a whale need points for?
Isn't pirating about releasing content into the wild? Ive mostly lost heart in sharing as well.
Not because I don't want to share but because Im buying things I cant share. If I were to buy anything daz Id probably start sharing again. Ive other things eating my money and daz is a hobby that's mostly been shelved for now.April 8, 2026 at 8:04 AM #2171283@ruinedclaw
I do really recommend using totally different username and email here. So not the same as the ones you use on sites where you buy the itemsif you already did this tho, my bad. creepy and weird tho how they keep finding you then..
but also the Forum has a post about how to remove trackers. the tracking is genuinely insane privacy infringing behavior
really sorry all of that happened to you
April 8, 2026 at 11:40 AM #2171320@d0gg0d, don't know about all the stuff you bring up in your super-long post, but if you buy the item and there is a request for that item, you should be able to fill the request regardless of whether or not someone else filled it weeks b4 and then ghosted all new requests. Ethiopia did this when fillers pissed him off.
April 8, 2026 at 10:16 PM #2171373Isn't pirating about releasing content into the wild?
THANK YOU ADAM!!! I've been trying not to be a dick about it but THAT was my understanding. This is pirate site where it is ok to share items that have NOT been released to the wild but I'm expected to read minds to know it is not ok to share items that HAVE been released to the wild? Come on!
If I download a movie from Pirate Site A there is no secret unspoken bro-code to not to reshare it again if the link is dead or to not post it to Pirate Site B. That's the nature of pirating. I apply that same idea here.
If a filler asks NOT to share their item and this site wants to respect the wishes of the filler I get that. It should be on the filler to make that request because THIS IS A PIRATE SITE FOR SHARING! ^_^ Respecting the wishes of the filler is the only thing stated in the rules and I have done that.
Not all items are purchased by the filler. I have filled items that I obtained from OTHER pirate sites. I never thought to say "I got this from another pirate site. Feel free to reshare it too." I have accidentally given points for items I immediately found on R-S because I brain fart and forgot to check. The filler did not tell me it was from another site and I could reshare it. I found it myself. If a filler purchased the item and are worried about reprocussions then they should take the initiative to say DO NOT SHARE. Some may not respect their wishes even when they say it, but I will and I always do. I have not refilled any item where the filler said not to. I thought I was being respectful to the filler by doing so.
Are reprocussions from selling sites an issue with detracking? This is a genuine question because I don't follow all of this and I don't know. Can they still find you if you detracked your item and how?
I read the rules and there is no rule against refills, I assume this is ALWAYS going on. I suspect my mediafire links have been used in refills because I noticed download numbers on mediafire dashboard went up after fills I did not do. It was a causal glance at the numbers I did not investigate deep.
I do not purchase from stores I have no account on a store. My DAZ content comes from pirate sites like this. I stopped using many other pirates sites after the request system was added here because this request system was more fun than other pirte sites. Now it's no longer fun. I will reserve giving points here for items I really want or suspect will not show up elsewhere in 2 days. I never cared about giving points here for items I knew would be somewhere else the next 2 days, but now I do and I'll wait.
April 9, 2026 at 1:12 AM #2171389@night - my understanding is this post is referring to the refilling of requests when you didn't buy the item yourself - at least that is what I thought lol.
I don't think anyone is expecting you to be a mind reader but a little common courtesy and respect can't be too much to ask in ANY community whether it's for advocates of free data or not. The issue is people are NOT honoring requests in fills to NOT share publicly when requested.
April 9, 2026 at 5:50 AM #21714023DLover if I was not clear sorry.
The issue is people are NOT honoring requests in fills to NOT share publicly when requested.
That was not the issue. I started the discussion becuase I refilled an item I got from here and the original filler did not say "do not share". I check my messages before refilling to make sure of that. After I refilled the item I got a warning and threatened with a ban if I did it again. The only thing in the rules about sharing is to respect the wishes of the filler when they request it not to be shared. I have always done that.
I've shared and recieved items that are from other pirate sites and are not purchased by the person doing the fill. I never thought to say "you can reshare this item" for the items and neither did other fillers to me when they were already PUBLIC items from other sites. When a filler does not want their item to be shared because they are worried it'll come back on them then they will think about it and say DO NOT SHARE.
My understanding was items shared without saying DO NOT SHARE are items released into the wild and can be freely shared on a pirate site for sharing items. I am being asked to read minds to know this is not ok. I would not think items I receive cannot be also shared unless the filler says DO NOT SHARE. It's not hard for the filler to say DO NOT SHARE if they want. If the filler does not put that then my understanding is they do not care if it is shared.
If a setting is added then it will force everyone think about it before filling. The filler have to choose "can share" or "do not share" before it will submit. For items from other sites or the filler doesn't care then they are public items adn can be reshared. For items the filler purchased and are worried about it they choose do not share. This is the best way to handle it. With a setting mods can track "do not share" items and be more strick about warnings and bans. If they add this setting put it in the FAQ that items labed DO NOT SHARE are not to be shared and explain the consequences like ONE WARNING then BAN. Problem solved. ^_^
One more idea. If fillers are worried about items they purchased coming back to them what if they can only be refilled again if detracking is done on the item again by the person who wants to refill. The files cannot be identical to the one you recieved if the filler says so. This adds more random scrambled files into the wild and lowers the chance that they will be tracked back to one person. Anyone trying to track one user down will have a harder time doing it when there are more files and they are all different. They will be chasing multiple ghosts.
April 9, 2026 at 3:42 PM #2171474The delayed release option was supposedly one way to help venders and also give sharers a buffer zone as well as delaying sister sites access.
If you don't want to host it yourself, Someone would probably be willing to post it for you.
If you hate sharing with everyone and/or are just concerned with milking points then gating content is an option.
April 9, 2026 at 5:42 PM #2171482Hi Everyone. I never post here but have been compelled to share my 2 cents, which is more like 25 cents since I think this will be long. First, I do want to thank you all for having this wonderful free resource to share items. It helped me decide whether or not I was going to continue to learn Daz and Blender without a major investment (I was an AI image prompter and RL "found items" artist only before this). I cannot express how thankful I am!
I totally agree with a lot of what is said here on both sides of the argument, however, I fear that no matter what is done there are those "subscription" pirate websites that will always take the shared items from here and upload it on their servers. This is one of the primary reasons I have chosen to not refill brand new items as quickly as I once did. Now I choose to post items at a much later date. Unfortunately, I do not think there is anyway to stop that. It is awful to choose to not publicly post something (on a free pirate site) and then see it else where shared and only available if you pay a subscription . . . for a pirated item that you know the person did not purchase themselves.
It took me a while to figure out this website when I first joined in 2024. I have learned to watch, wait, and observe how the culture works before making any assumptions. But not everyone does this and a rules update is perfect, but, it wont stop items being shared on non-free pirating websites which is what really bothers me most of all.
It does get annoying when multiple refills are done immediately after sharing on this website using items I purchased, however, I really do not care if someone posts an item I shared to fill a request for points using the item at a later date (2+ months). If I decide to share a new item I have been writing in the fill request that it is ok to reshare publicly "on the blog only" and not fill requests or other websites. I have been too busy in my daily life to monitor this so I cannot comment on whether or not this has done any good. I admit, 100%, that I just forget about it and I know others may be asking for it.
Side note - I also followed the guidelines for how to remove trackers from items to help cover myself as well. That post is golden IMO and maybe a link in the request post and/or elsewhere should be highlighted for new users.
I hope this all made sense. Its early for me and coffee is needed.
April 9, 2026 at 5:56 PM #2171483It is the nature of the beast that items proliferate into the wild.
Ultimately, it is how the piracy thing works.
That said, it is foolish to kill the golden goose, so some restraint is required.
🙂April 9, 2026 at 6:55 PM #2171487Ive no idea how the pay sites still get money or members. Everything here is essentially free. The sister sites that pull from here are free. A simple search brings this site up as the primary distributor of Daz content.
Either they are long term hard core members of that community and/or as dumb as a brick.I use to get frustrated when my item was posted elsewhere in 3.5 seconds but I asked myself why and I could not come up with a valid reason. If I were a member of a Daz group and got an item from here, would you really be upset that I PMed my friends the item. Not share your link but actually send them the file. What if I PMed the link? Is it costing you anything to host it on a free site?
Its ultimately silly to gatekeep content on a pirate site. You get a group of friends together and swap amongst yourself while downloading hundreds of files others share freely and that is one reason I stopped posting.
The side groups, whale groups, swapping this item for that item, requiring you dont share, holding content for points over fkin months. Its not a pirate site its a fkin swap meet.
People here download gigs of music, games, movies, programs and 3D content costing hundreds/thousands of dollars for free then get pissy when you share $10 item or they want to hang on to it like its a bar of fkin gold and only show it to someone else who has a bar of gold. Bunch of fkin drama that I just decided to delete my files and mostly pissoff. I came back after a slight break and not much has changed
April 10, 2026 at 12:49 AM #2171529@night - Ooops lol, sorry! I just re-read your post 🙂 So yeah, that is an interesting situation. I agree that you shouldn't have to "read minds". I think there should be a tick box next to the message area that everyone has to fill before the fill request can be posted - either "This can be publicly shared/reshared" or "Do not reshare or use for refills anywhere at all". That way it's clear to everyone - so good idea @night - totally agree with this.
April 10, 2026 at 12:12 PM #2171626"it is foolish to kill the golden goose, so some restraint is required"
This pretty much sums it up. As good ol' Zelman wrote many years ago here, those who fill requests should have more say than those who simply leech.
@d0gg0d, there are pay/membership sites that have content that is not available here (at least not publicly)."sister sites" 🤔 It that what we're calling them now?
April 10, 2026 at 5:57 PM #21716623DLover thank you I am glad you like my suggestion. After thinking about it more I think it needs three options.
1. This can be used only for refills but do not share on public blog or other sites
2. This can be publicly shared/reshared anywhere
3. Do not reshare or use for refills anywhere at allulysses fillers do have more say as far as I'm concerned. If they say do not share I respect their wishes. When they don't say anything I think it means they don't care what happens to it and it's public. This is a sharing site my default is to share unless the filler says not to. They do have say but they must say it.
