Yeah, if you intend to sell your creations you would have a claim and proof that you legally own the stuff you've created with it. But I think it's rather hard for an individual artist to ensure copyright policies are followed by users.
But as long as you can proof your payment to the artist I'll bet you're on the safe side.

Sure, if the product is offered to you directly - I assume you're in touch with the artist via chat or mail? If you can guarantee that the coins are paid directly to a wallet of the artist it's probably the best thing to support her or him with minimal fees and third party royalties.
Ah, remember to ask for the license or at least the receipt of the transaction. 😉
