@EvilMonkey, I dig what you're saying and while I love the Tim Bradstreet covers I really wasn't going for that look, which is easily achieved in Photoshop, thanks for the advice though. 🙂
@Adam, Photographically speaking the scene is correct. You wouldn't shoot the Punisher with a 50mm lens so to keep a relatively safe distance you would use a 400mm lens at the very least and thus the DOF. Also, since the Punisher is the focus, anything else is a distraction. In fact, initially I had lightning in the background which I removed because it was too distracting. As for the lighting, I find it is easy to fall into the trap of shadowy mystery the result being the image is too dark and the effect is lost. Years of experience has taught me that so I make sure there is plenty of light on my subjects. In a studio I have hands on control on my lights but in 3D the controls are spread out in between the render settings and the lights themselves but I'm getting the hang of it now. Looking good on all fronts but the face gives the game away. Try something simple first like having her eyes look slightly off camera but if you really want to fool the masses then have her turn her head slightly and have her eyes look up or down. Also play around with very slight expressions. Look at some high end fashion mags for reference and note the slightly bored expression. Try it and you'll be amazed at the results, just don't overdo it, subtlety is the name of the game.
@iwuvdaz3d,lol, that would feel kind of dirty, like digital wife swapping or something. 🙂
@iwuvdaz3d, Wanna hear something funny? I uploaded the last one and the one of Christele in the jeans to 500PX which is a site for pro photographers. Nobody has noticed that these are 3D renders.
