What 8.1 skins would you consider top quality, just out of interest?
August 27, 2022 at 6:11 AM #1860912So I ran Virus Total, online checker on the package and this was the result
.August 27, 2022 at 6:04 AM #1860911The just "disable antivirus" doesn't fill me with confidence. I suppose I could upload and see what other scanners think.
July 8, 2022 at 12:01 AM #1829239Same what shit? Explain.
January 14, 2022 at 3:06 PM #1766956The only time I had scenes ballooning up to over 1Gb in Daz was when I was using Z's Fit Control on clothing. Even simple scenes exploded. I'm not sure the most recent versions do that these days though. It was a few Daz versions ago.
Are you using dForce though? That will also balloon a scene up in size.
(Also I use WinDirStat for that kind of thing).
January 13, 2022 at 11:19 AM #1766599Right, I looked at this again and you're all correct. It *does* contain kneeling poses but the poses are embedded within the standing set, which is kind-of odd but whatever, e.g.
Standing Poses\1. Torso Curved Back\4. Kneeling\4a. Lower Body
So build your own kneeling poses is inside build your own standing poses, which isn't inside build your own lying poses.
You can see the reason for the confusion here I'm sure!
Apologies.
January 11, 2022 at 6:04 AM #1765832Very kind of you, thanks.
January 8, 2022 at 2:40 PM #1765091Didn't read the whole thread but I recently completely reorganised my libraries. I created a brand new "base" library that just contained Genesis 3 and 8, and a few extra things you need for basic functionality (starter essentials, etc).
Next I made a second library containing just the figures I intended to use. I only added the morph sets I needed (two or three of them - yes, it's tempting to install that 200 morph pack just for the one hip smoothing morph you "need" - but you don't really "need" it at all, so why bring along everything else with it - rinse and repeat a hundred times and you've got THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of morphs you never use), and a few pose sets. For me that was literally about four characters.
Loading scenes/figures now takes seconds rather than the previous minutes.
I know it's tempting to hoard data and put everything into your library so you can see it all nicely organised in one place, but I now do that with the .zips on the file system (with a hierarchy of folders) and only unzip and copy over things I intend to use. I remove things I don't need to use, especially from morph folders.
Note that this applies to figures, expressions and morphs. Basically anything that forces Daz to prepare UI controls. So environments, shaders and so on don't count. You can have as many of those as you like.
I've seen people debate how to speed up Daz no end, literally hours and hours of discussion, and it's all nonsense. You've got too much in your library! If you reduce it right down to what you need, everything is faster. Not just loading, using puppeteer, activepose, animation, everything is faster and more responsive.
January 7, 2022 at 1:01 AM #1764645Thanks. I managed to get Clothing Convertor to do it. They look pretty good actually, no glitches.
January 6, 2022 at 11:02 PM #1764626Actually I've noticed a distinct lack of high quality heels for Genesis 8, e.g. like Carly and Rachel heels. I wonder what's up with that... no money in it for the effort they take?
October 11, 2021 at 4:23 AM #1737269Sandboxing sounds like a pain in the bum but may be the solution here... I just wondered how reliable the virus checkers are (I use Defender and then Malwarebytes to check each download against two different ones). Neith defend against day zero though do they. But if you had a day zero you probably wouldn't waste it on a ZoneGfx uplaod!
I haven't had any issues in the past but there will be that one time...
October 2, 2020 at 7:56 PM #1632628Thanks.
