I'm finding that I don't care about the genderless/androgynous base. I just acquired Victoria 9 and from what I can understand, despite being a blatantly female figure, male clothing is still going to show up in my smart content pane for Victoria 9 as well? I prefer using the smart content pane when I can, instead of trying to browse through an ever-growing content library and having to click through a bunch of folders to find what I am looking for.
If this is the case, then whenever we start seeing more clothing for both genders, it's all going to be a cluttered mess unless I now try and manually categorize everything by revamping the smart content categories. I don't plan to have a male character wearing a skirt or a dress, for example, so I don't need those clothing options showing up whenever they have "Luke 9" or whatever. Like, not everything is actually unisex.
If I wanted to crossdress a male or female, there were other products that allowed for that. But I don't want a bunch of male (masculine) styled clothing showing up for female characters, and vice versa.
Maybe I'm just not understanding yet how this new figure is supposed to work, though. I only use DAZ3D at an amateur level, mostly out of boredom when I have nothing else to do and want to waste some time.
August 23, 2021 at 11:51 PM #1723336I came to this forum after noticing an increase in uploads being reserved for a later date the last few weeks or so. This seemed odd and counter-intuitive to me and browsing this thread, I've seen nobody really explain why this feature was added or is totally necessary. It's more deceptive, if anything. Because you see a desirable product being in the newly uploaded section when you click to view all recent posts and then you see that black, boldened text telling you to wait a week or so. Which means it's not actually available for download and should not appear as though it can be downloaded.
The website should treat anything posted as "upcoming" as being "unavailable" until the set date to which it will be marked as available for downloading. If this is a feature that has its benefits, then fine, but implement a system where a post set as "upcoming" is not mixed in with everything that is actually available upon approval. AND, once a product is freed from its time constraint, have it automatically post as a new upload so we all see it once the links are visible.
I visit this website every other day to keep up with everything being posted, sometimes I even share what I am able to occasionally afford, so while next week on the 30th, I'll have visited this website again to check for anything good, unless those "upcoming" posts from today reappear as new posts on the 30th, I'm not going to see them here on this website. Seems like this was one critique of this idea a few other people have also mentioned here.
People are saying, "jUsT BoOKmArK iT" but when there's more (desirable) content being set as "upcoming" than there is stuff available day-one, you're going to end up with a lot of bookmarks. Why do we have to organize and create a folder for all these bookmarks, write sticky notes, copy links to a notepad text document and name that text document "UPCOMING POSTS FOR 8/30", etc? I thought the whole point of this website was to, well, share content? Why make it tedious to do so?
No, website administration should improve upon this idea if they insist on keeping it. It shouldn't be up to us to come up with our own solutions to something currently flawed but fixable by those who actually manage the website.
(This is assuming "upcoming" posts with hidden links don't automatically repost with visible links after reaching the set date. Pretty sure I haven't noticed anything yet.)
