For what it's worth... I also haven't had much success with Content Wizard either. Content Package Assist seemed quite a bit better. That said, I got fed up (yet again) with the whole How-the-frell-do-I-install-non-DAZ-store-assets-with-DIM mess and have bitten the bullet and am also rolling my own packaging helper thing.

I guess I'll keep you guys posted.

    🙂

Just to chime in on a semi-tangiential part-satirical note...

I use Daz purely because of the vast quantity of 'freely available' models. In particular human/creature/organic ones. The Daz tools are simply not made for actual modelling. They are OK-ish at a pinch for kitbashing and removing geometry in order to make kitbashed parts 'fit' oh and of course providing simple ground planes in YouTube tutorials.

In that light, for the occasional user Daz Studio is just hunky dory fine. Pose. Render. Wank. Very easy. In the same light, like the OP, I also feel that Genesis 8.1 rings a little hollow. Yet, as has been eloquently explained in the previous posts, there's little Daz can do to fix this fundamental problem in the realm of new code for Studio.

Therefore, I also feel the best thing for Daz would be to provide a plugin which would allow the direct import of Daz content into Blender.

That way Daz Studio can happily circle the drain and eventually die, while I'll still be able to use all my 'freely acquired' content in a vastly superior 3D modelling/animating/rendering environment. As a bunus I'd be free to use AMD hardware and also move back to Linux. The wins just keep on piling up.

So come on Daz, do the right thing for a change! Drop the bloody placenta called Studio, provide the shiney Blender direct import plugin and revel in having the happiest user-base in all of Christendom!

    1. Phantom F4 - Morning Tree.
I'm with the dog. Why stand on one leg if you're already down to two? Silly humans.

    2. C-130 Borne - Sad bloke lost in the haze.
Great composition and storytelling. Bloke in the background is actually the main character despite being lost in the DOF mush. Excellent.

    3. Dave - Waiting for a wave
    3. SpliffHammer - Maisie and Sophie
Love the lighting in Dave's girls waiting for a wave scene and... (cough) perky tits with hard nips will always get my vote. Also really like SpliffHammer's lighting. Both images really feel like sunset to me.

Honourable mention goes to Kendra Denimore for capturing the stillness of sunset.

    Well done all!

PS. I'm amused by the fact that my top two scenes were created by classic aeroplanes 🙂

I removed my earlier post as I think I've managed to improve my image a little. Added a beach as after all this competition is about the beach at sunset... also figured out how to lighten the Atlantean's outfit so now you can see it has scales. And finally, I added some gold detailing to the outfit.

The scene is still rendered on my crusty 4Gb K4200, still had to split the scene into 2 renders and then combine them into one image with GIMP.

I hope you like the updated image!

@shyne - lovely image, superb lighting! The collage-y feel of the runners up very cool too 🙂

Indeed, I was wondering the same. As a newcomer to 'watching digital paint dry' I was hoping to maybe enter the July and August competitions as an opportunity learn new things and maybe get some feedback.

I let it loose on some of the scenes I was having trouble with and it worked a charm!

It seems I may be able to eat this month instead of spending the money on a new card.

    Many thanks 🙂
