Dear All,
Currently, my machine is equipped with an older K4200 which only has 4Gb of VRAM. Obviously I'm running into a shortfall of memory on more involved scenes. When trying out the Octane plug-in(which by the way destabilises my Daz install like nobody's business) I noticed that it has a Texture info dialog. Very handy. I also noticed that some of the textures used in scenes were much larger maps than necessary. For my render output at 1280x549 and 1920x823, 8k and even some 4k maps in places aren't needed.
My question therefor is, how do I reduce the size of large textures in Daz scenes?
Ideally, I'd like to have S, M, and XL material set 'tiles' in my smart content so I can choose.
Thus, my follow-up question is, after having created new smaller texture sets from the original larger ones, what is the canonical way of grouping them as smart content 'tiles'?
Many thanks for any advice and please, continue to stay out of COVID's way!
PS. I realise that getting an 8Gb card off ebay (probably an m4000) would solve a lot of memory issues, but I was intrigued if some optimisation would delay the inevitable by a day or two 🙂
