Greedy and selfish, how do you figure? If nobody was making any content you wouldn't be any better off.
However doing a Google image search of the filenames as they are right now does yield the photos, on the 3-4 random spotchecks that I just did anyways.
For example this one:
(zonegfx.com/octopus/)Shows the image file name as: 3a5c58b27c77feb6a09af9884c256e07.jpg
Which under a Google image search comes up with what I assume is the correct image:

I disagree, I don't think Daz should try to be ZBrush or Blender etc. That's just not what people need from this program - you just need an easy way to get your content into ZBrush/Blender/Maya/Photoshop etc. That just isn't their specialty and trying to compete with the industry leaders there will not be a good use of their resources IMO. I think the value is in having a seamless workflow where you're not fighting to import your materials into the other products - if everything stays nice and cross-compatible there's really no upside to them moving the product in that direction.
I think Victoria 1-4 were not Genesis, Victoria 5 = Genesis, Victoria 6 = Genesis 2, and Victoria 7 = Genesis 3. I think the models before 5 were called a different thing, I think they just called them Generation 1,2,3 etc.
I wonder if there would be a way to automate this. Something like a script to find all of the broken image links and give you the URLs, a script to follow those URLs and download the images. A script to upload all of those images to NewHost using the same file name. And a script to add some kind of image check on the site - like if image link = OldHost/file.jpg, then change url to NewHost/file.jpg
