Adding my plugged nickel's worth of commentary ...
In DAZ Studio, it probably doesn't matter, unless you're rendering a closeup portrait, as others have said.
It matters more if you render in an "industry standard" system like Blender, Maya, or RenderMan because those engines can use the resolution to greater advantage. Even then, it's better to use a skin detail map (like you find in G9) that can be tiled, and reduce the size of your normal maps to 4K.

Well, I did that. It still maxed out at 5G. It said I had to upgrade to a paid version to get any more.
This sounds like a "wealth redistribution" program. Some of us are too "rich." I haven't bought much lately to share (flat broke), but if I'm only going to get 15 points for sharing it, I don't have much incentive even if I could afford a new purchase to post. May as well just give it away to friends for free.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I though the crack was an installer. I didn't know to copy it to the file and replace the .exe. DUH!
So, what is with the firewall, and how do I do it?

This is what I'm doing.:
1. Click on FaceGen application.
2. It installs fine.
3. Click on Crack.
4. I get this message:
I thought the same thing. V7/G3F had a hard face and mouth but at least looked like a woman. V8/G8F looks too masculine, with a long, horse like face and a mouth big enough to swallow a hot dog sideways. I suppose Mike 8 will look feminine. I've bypassed G8 completely. The mesh is the same at G3F, the face is too masculine, and there are far more sculpting systems available for Genesis 3 already. So, why upgrade, since it isn't an upgrade.
I tried it on the other computer. Connected just fine and downloaded just fine.
I wonder if the last Win10 upgrade knocked something out.
Eelgoo, you could be right. Firefox has been wonky lately. I'll give Chrome a latch.
Twelve hours later, and it's still happening.
After ten minutes, the tab for Mega is still connecting and the wheel is still spinning. It may just be my computer. I'll go try another one.
Colle: That's what I thought at first, too. But I applied his settings, and got a great look with my light and camera set up. Personally, I think his skins are too yellow, so I don't use his diffuse color settings, opting for 215, 215, 215. But I hotrod all my skins anyway, so they don't need the color boost. His translucency setting alone made a ton of difference.
Well, I was going to show you the shaders at work, but I can't seem to get the image to show up.
Probably not the best example, because it's a night scene, but take a look at this.
