The theme doesn't matter at all to me and you can't expect to please everyone. Let's stop tinkering around and go with something.
July 6, 2024 at 8:59 PM #2082125I think the title of this thread my need to be a bit more eye-catching though? Hopefully, we will catch the attention of more peoples.
July 6, 2024 at 9:20 PM #2082129Art Competition isn't listed in the pulldown menu so it probably gets overlooked like the free section does. no idea why it cant be displayed. @Legolas18
Same with the groups section. There are 2 forum sections that havent seen a post in 2 years and with the new request layout one thats been locked for 8 months. All could be deleted
I believe Frank posted a art competition offering in the main forum. probably the only way it will get more attention
July 7, 2024 at 6:25 PM #2082232@hunter Hi, would it be possible to make a small modification to the top bar of the website, please?

As it is now, when you hover over "Community > Forum" you see "Request" which is no longer used thanks to the new system.
Meanwhile, Art Competition and Free resources are a bit harder to reach.
This, IMO would improve things. 🙂
July 7, 2024 at 8:51 PM #2082260I like that suggestion Legolas.
July 9, 2024 at 2:38 PM #2082566Supersized the "If you dont like it leave or make your own site" crowd havent shown up.
July 9, 2024 at 4:09 PM #2082578dont speak too soon and tempt fate
July 9, 2024 at 9:16 PM #2082606I don't think that will happen Adam. Legolas's suggestion just organises the forums from most to least active.
July 10, 2024 at 3:39 AM #2082626Maybe its all in who says it and how its said. Ive been saying this for years
July 10, 2024 at 4:01 AM #2082628"... how it's said" Yep, abrasiveness seldom gets what you want.
July 21, 2024 at 6:53 AM #2084016And right on cue, my workstation (a gaming laptop) has died! Well, hopefully not permanently. I was playing a game when suddenly the screen went black. I could tell that the system kept running normally, just that the screen went off.
Long story short, the screen functions for a second or two when switching the system on and when waking up the system from sleep. Screen uptime is reduced further or eliminated when the laptop gets hot (pretty quickly)!
I use the laptop for rendering and to play games mainly (total use of 4+ hours daily). Unfortunately, the environment is a (chain) smoking one and the local climate makes Hell feel like a nordic paradise!
Thankfully, the warranty still applies so tomorrow I'll take the laptop for analysis and repairs (which hopefully won't take long). I will be out of action for a few days but I hope eveything will be fine by the time the competition starts.
I wanted to ask: do you consider it wise to use such a system to make renders? I use DAZ on the discrete GPU. My reasoning is that if the system is rated to play graphically intensive games safely, it should at least be be competent for rendering (in terms of heat management).
July 21, 2024 at 11:23 AM #2084043Laptop cooling has always been a potential issue for a variety of contributory reasons.
Despite what the advertising blurb will have you believe, it will not be a graphical crunching beast without generating a lot of heat which laptops can have difficulty dissipating.July 21, 2024 at 1:51 PM #2084066I use to render on my laptop. Sometimes I still do but now I usually do the scene on the laptop then render it on the PC.
