I can understand not having androids like Data from ST:TNG, but this? C'mon now. These should be as common place in the home as TVs, cell phones and computers.. Seriously.. I know we already have the tech for this without it costing $10K or being as small as a cat.

I could understand them being used in business, but I guess most homes aren't designed to accomodate to something so large.
Then there's the possibility of hacking, illegal uses, terrorism etc.
But mostly, people are generally idiots lol!
August 20, 2019 at 10:16 AM #1210602What does it do? Why would I want one?
August 20, 2019 at 11:12 AM #1210642They are not a "thing" because people are waiting for the sex/companion bots to come out , would you stick your **** in that lol
August 20, 2019 at 12:57 PM #1210750there will be always a debate on robot workforce or human workforce, and mostly, replacing human with robot workforce for low-end labor is pretty detested practice in many country, as more robot = less human's job field, and less human's job mean more chance of a person going below the average economic line, it will be pretty trainwreck domino effect
August 20, 2019 at 10:11 PM #1211299I want one to get my coffee for me, as I pictured it here.. Hang out with. get me a beer, screw with my cats, LOL..
CC, no I wouldn't. I don't want it for sex. Being disabled tho, it could help me a lot around the house. Also, I'm not really a people person. Humans suck, and @Tomsk, they are which gives credence to me being an introverted misanthropist. After I posted this last night, I did some research. They have one for about $1600 USD from Japan thats similar to this. Then they have others out there up to like $300K.
August 20, 2019 at 11:51 PM #1211383We will get here pretty soon
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WALL-EThen we will get here eventually
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skynet_(Terminator)August 21, 2019 at 12:34 AM #1211425Naw.. I don't believe that Adam.. The rich greedy folk might get to a Wall-E state, but poor people will still be out there trudging along to support the rich greedy slobs in the VR worlds and floating chairs.
As far as Skynet scenario? dude, we don't even have what I pictured in every home NOR do we have hover or flying cars. So Skynet killer robots? Lots of people think Skynet will become a reality but thats just impractical paranoia in my eyes. Humans will destroy the planet long before killer robots get a chance to destroy the human infestation here on earth.
August 22, 2019 at 7:20 PM #1213998I want one like in 2005 Serenity, Lenore i think. I'm good with that. That would rock. I'm betting @d0gg0d probably knows what my reference is to.
August 22, 2019 at 7:54 PM #1214032But even she/it was extremely limited in her function, only useful for relaying messages and maybe one or two other...uummm... 'chores'... 😀
August 23, 2019 at 1:35 AM #1214375Not if but when
August 23, 2019 at 2:25 AM #1214426As sad as it may sound I own Serenity and Firefly and have not watch either. They keep getting overlooked but, Ill try to make it a point to watch them. I have 4000+ non burned
movies and for some reason will rewatch movies like willy Wonka for a 61 time.August 23, 2019 at 3:35 AM #1214470er... yeah i know exactly what you mean @d0gg0d . Potter, Terminator, uh marvel movies. but tons i haven't watched either. Watch those other two, they are good. SO i think.
August 23, 2019 at 9:42 PM #1215626I'm up to date with all my movies and shows on my WD USB drives. I'm constantly looking for new sci-fi and fantasy.
@d0gg0d bro, you gotta watch Firefly and Serenity. 😉I always liked Andromeda from Andromeda, and The Android on Dark Matter.
Like I said, we have the tech for it( my pictured robot) and these are already out there, just not common.
Now, I pose a question for those who believe in, as Kaku uses the word, "murderous" robots/androids.
Why?
Other than self defense, ie; after becoming self aware, humans want to destroy them so they have to protect themselves.
Why? If they are smarter than humans, one would think they would not resort to murder. Does being self aware automatically grant one emotions such as love, hate, jealousy, rage, happiness, arrogance etc.?I have a different vision. I see them as helping us achieve civility among ourselves and teaching us to live in harmony.
August 23, 2019 at 9:48 PM #1215637OR...in the interest of 'protecting' their owners, they end up isolating us from each other...
