It seems each day there is less for daz3d, as I remember last year there was a lot more for Daz. Don't about poser, and if they even go down that route of power only - they will lose traffic. But I still buy things from there. Got at least 5 items in my Wishlist. Some vendors sell things there, as daz3d won't sell certain things due to copyright.
June 26, 2020 at 11:32 pm #1610274I've been paying attention to Rendo's offerings this week and I don't see a whole lot of Poser specific items. If they do purge their store they'll be left with darned little to sell. The two or three hardcore Poser users won't be enough to keep them afloat and Daz will gain the non-Poser vendors.
Unless they gravitate to RenderHub.June 27, 2020 at 1:21 am #1610286I noticed that a popular Rendo vendor, Biscuits (who’s known for her awesome hair and hair textures) moved to DAZ. (I’m guessing I due to the DAZ PA exclusive D-Force Hair editor) This follows ParallaxCreates move from Rendo to DAZ a few months ago.
June 27, 2020 at 2:35 am #1610291In regards to some of Daz's inconsistencies when it comes to promo pics... I believe a prominent Daz PA said on her DA page to someone that it's down to PayPal and their policies regarding pornography: if they catch a whiff that anything could be construed as porn, especially child pornography, PayPal will yank support for Daz away from them as a payment option with extreme prejudice. (That could likely be why we'll never see an official Kids 8 figure or any characters that aren't coded as being 16 years or older)
This could also be why things have gotten a little more "conservative" in terms of items -especially for females- in the last couple years over at Daz's storefront. They're likely trying to appeal to a broader audience and what may have been acceptable 10 years ago isn't socially acceptable now with the demographics they're chasing.
And frankly, my purchases at Daz have tapered off severely over the last 6 months. With all the character/hair/clothing conversion tools available for Genesis 8 (and even from G8 to G3), what's the point of buying newer items now?
As for Rendo... who the hell knows with them. I was shocked to see Biscuts pop up as a PA, since she's been staunchly Rendo for as long as I can remember. Wonder if Daz will eventually try to woo DZheng over to them, as he's been extremely prolific with Genesis 8 Male after a long hiatus... but he leans pretty hard into the gay male erotica niche with some of his items.
I suspect if Rendo does pull a Zimbabwe and kicks Daz-only content creators out of the store in favor of their La'Femme/L'Homme content, the exiles will go to RenderHub. Which, tbh is kind of... ehhhhhh levels of varying quality r/n, but maybe that could change.
Either way, Rendo is a mess. La Femme and L'Homme are better looking than say, Dawn and Dusk, but they offer nothing -and I mean nothing- that makes the Genesis line appealing: creature morphs, being able to morph your character into lots of styles: any and all morphs I've seen so far barely even change the character (save for one by AfroditeOhki). Not to mention the clothing available for them is either rehashes of Rhiannon's offerings or plain crap at this point. The PAs that could make amazing outfits for them are likely sticking with Daz, since that's what they know will bring in money, especially in a post-Coronavirus global economy. Hell, I'd be willing to bet most newer PAs don't even know how to use Poser or never have used it, so taking the time to learn a "new" program would take time away from making things that would be guaranteed sellers.
I think Bondware's Poser investment will eventually turn out to be a sunk cost/boondoggle. I hope I'm wrong: competition makes for healthy markets. But it doesn't look promising at this point.
June 27, 2020 at 12:00 pm #1610415Like scoobydude wrote, DAZ was started by mormons and that's the big hand up on nudity or sex. You can't mention it in their forums without treading lightly as heck. Their overbearing, useless mods usually tell people who ask questions about gen problems or bring up sex prop issues to go to Rendo or Rocity to ask that question. Then they delete the thread. That nutty old hag Chohole won't even admit that DAZ is used primarily for sexually oriented content. I agree with ethiopia. The sooner we all start learning and using blender, the better off we'll be.
June 27, 2020 at 12:26 pm #1610419Yes, that is the way of it. It is always plusses & minuses.
A while back Daz poached a lot of vendors from RDNA & 'Rosity.
Freja always used to be 'Rosity, then she did a little for Daz but returned when they fell out.
Brahann is another 'Rosity refugee from RDNA who didn't appear to take to the Daz store.
Roughly I buy three times more from 'Rosity, than I do from Daz.
That is mainly because of their sales policy rather than the quality of product, which by & large there isn't much difference in that.
Testing at Daz is as poor as 'rosity ATM IMO.
On that issue, I think it is important to maintain a level of tolerance for the smaller outlets, as regards testing.
I think the resources they will have are likely to be very limited.🙂
June 27, 2020 at 1:40 pm #1610434@notenoughrupees I know that Paypal doesn't deal with porn sites but it has no problem with Renderotica and it's brand of sick and twisted stuff. I feel that Daz's conservative bent has more to do with it's location in Utah.
June 27, 2020 at 2:16 pm #1610443Ethiopia: Same PA said that the reason why is because Renderotica and CG Bytes are owned by the same people, and any purchases made on R’otica is listed as being from CG Bytes. It’s why they have issues with refunds for purchases made on R’otica, if not outright refuse them: if PayPal finds they’re making purchases from a porn site, they revoke payment processing.
(Said PA is SickleYield, and she’s been a pretty straight shooter when it comes to being blunt about the realities of the business)
June 28, 2020 at 2:11 pm #1610609Also, with the release of the Pride Parade bundle today -which also includes transgender morphs for both G8 figures-, I think the theory of "Daz in Utah + Mormons = censorship" can be discredited at this point.
June 29, 2020 at 10:57 am #1610793@notenoughrupees I noticed that yesterday and am very much surprised. Hopefully Daz is getting a bit more daring. I'm sure they know darn well that the erotic/adult side of Studio is quite lucrative. I'd love to see them open a separate store for all the sick and twisted folks (like me!).
...and yes, Sickleyield is also one of my favourites. Her and Jack Tomalin do great work and are very open to discussion. I respect that.June 29, 2020 at 2:54 pm #1610831Particularly, I don't care much about "adult material", be it from Renderosity or Renderotica ... Maybe, for some morph or textures, for greater realism, but I don't care about "tits, asses and cocks". There is a program called "Content Pa" that can make a DIM in just seconds, highly recommended for content "out of daz".
June 30, 2020 at 1:01 pm #1611012It seems there is 50% everything at the moment in their store. Might have a good look in the morning. Got one item in my cart.
June 30, 2020 at 1:28 pm #1611019@Abad Hi, just did a quick search for "Content Pa" here and on google, but didn't see anything. Where can I find this? It sounds familiar but can't for the life of me remember where I saw it. Thanks!
June 30, 2020 at 1:44 pm #1611020@jrnkmail It's called Content Package Assist:
https://www.daz3d.com/content-package-assistAnd it's actually a really great program to do this.
