    This Zone needs a contest badly! There are 10,547 members here and they are all getting anxious.
    Seeing as I am nearing my one year anniversary, it's time I host a contest.
    There will be three parts to this: Entry Thread, Voting Thread and Results/Critique Thread.
    This has to be a good one because the contests here do require not only talent but creativity.
    The theme as stated in the title is: "What Inspired You To Pursue 3D-Art?"
    Sorry, I don't want your answer in words, alone - I want them rendered.
    Was it a moment? Was it someone else's Work of Art? Was it a person? Was it a combination of things? Kitbash it if you must!
    Juar render it and enter it in my contest. You may write a paragraph if you feel your Art needs (further) explaining.
    The prizes will be from my own account as not to appear bias when the voting takes place.
    This contest will not have many rules but since it has to do with inspiration, most of what you use should be obtainable from The Zone.
    I'm requesting this way so other (potential) artists can replicate or improve (if they critique negatively, lol)
    Steps and post work should also be mentioned but "trade secret" need not be disclosed.
    DO NOT PUT YOUR "Critique Render" on this thread. DO NOT PUT YOUR "Critique Render" on the voting thread.

    This contest is open to all other 10,546 members as I recuse myself.
    And there is one catch (well, sort of an entry fee): Each contestant is request to upload and share one item not on the zone already.
    I'm not requiring you to state what you will be posting to share on the zone.
    Just thought it would be nice to see fresh content; especially if it inspired you not only to do 3d Art, but to enter my contest.
    Any Entry depicting nudity or violence you MUST go through a third party hosting site.
    If your entry contains extremly graphic violence or extreme sexuality please save that thought for another contest on another site.
    Likewise, if your "critique" comment render depicts nudity/violence, use an image hosting site.
    Did I cover everything? Oh, yes; this contest ends 30 September:
    Judging thread will run for one week and that is from October 1st until October 7th.
    You have four weeks to render your entry and some of you may have already started or completed your entry,
    however if it was already used (and placed) in a previous ZoneGFX contest, then simply do it over and improve it!
    Since I lack any artist talent, the judging will be on a Zone thread to follow and will be by popularity amongst your fellow Zone Citizens.
    The judging thread will be open October 1st and close October 7th.
    You can only vote once.
    Results/Critique thread will follow on October 8th and will remain open indefinitely
    so you can submit "how I would improve it" entries - even if you are evaluating yourself.

    Prizes are as follows:

    50K = 1st
    30k = 2nd
    20k = 3rd

    Remember, This thread is for ENTRIES Only. Title it if you feel it needs a title but remember to include which Zone items you used,
    post rendering modifications and if necessary, a brief explanation of your entry.
    Once again, If your Art contains nudity or violence, use an image hosting site and provide the link.
    In the case of a tie, those tying places will be added then divided betwixt the two or three winners.
    There is a possibility of a 10,000 way tie and that would mean each winner would only get 10 points each.
    We are all only voting for one entry. If you must vote for your own entry and everyone else does the same, then my vote might determine the winner.

    Yay! a contest! Oh, that's MY contest. To anyone NOT me, just to clarify that you don't have to upload any content as an entry fee. it's just one of the many ideas I've always wanted to see regarding contests and comments- Put up or shut up. No offense or is it no offence? Anyway, if it's too complicated to do that, you may enter it as a "work in Progress" and annotate it as such OR you can just enter something you feel represents 3d Art to you (*if that's the case, absolutely no porn, lol) Anyhow, I've had a few PM's for clarification so I am addressing that on this thread. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask me. Like I said, I've got those points set aside. If I only get one entry, then they stand to make 100,000 points. If there are two and tie, it will be 50/50. If between the two, one gets more votes, it will be 60/40. Otherwise, it stands at 50/30/20 for first three.
    It was suggested I award points for entering and I'm currently deciding on that, but for points I am a firm believer in put up or shut up. So enter and I will send an undisclosed amount of points to you as appreciation points. It had also been suggested that I offer a "special" amount of points for the first entry.
    All I can say, is post your entry (if mature - use imagehosting) and when I see the first entry, I will PM you that I've put X amount of points in your account.
    Let's see, Did I cover all the questions behest to me? yup. Okay, get busy; you've got 26 days. Thank you.

    I partially agree with you. I placed 5 characters that I bought a few days ago, even before I installed them in my own library. Sharing is in my opinion a case of the heart. But it must be a free choice and no obligation...

    I'm with you on this my friend.... I will donate 20.000 points as wel to your competition to spice things up. I'll send you a pm about the donation....

    It is official! I have a contest underway. So far, @Dynamico stands at making the 100,000 points - plus the 20,000 Dynamico has put up in ADDITIONAL prizes donated.
    Thank you Dynamico

    Well, Im going on vacation in a few days and I don't have the time to dedicate to the quality that this contest really deserves. I decided to tell you and enter a quick render that came to mind while downloading stuff.

    Seeing some of the art work that came out around V3 time made me look into Poser program. I also messed with skinning SIMS and Quake figures a bit and some minor modeling in free-ware 3d programs.

    I went with 3D art because I really enjoy art. Drawings, painting, sculpting, ect... But I have little to no talent in what I enjoy. Im better than average at photography but nothing close to a seasoned pro. During photo editing and manipulation, I found I had "ok" skill and was able to put most of my visions in digital form.

    With the computer and 3d programs I can do at least some of what I enjoy. I still lack the raw talent that truly gifted artist have but, that is something that I have to work around and 3D does this for me in most cases. I can tweek textures, worlds and models rather than create them from scratch and that is a great help.

    Adam? Wow! Yes, with two entries, this contest is rolling! Thank you to everyone entering and making an entry. This is what inspires me.

    For many years I was a amateur photographer and I worked with clay. My love of 3D lead to stone and I became an office worker by day and stone carver / sculptor by night. Then I moved from a place where I had my own house and studio into an apartment.

    I could no longer use my loud compressor and stone tools, so I searched around for an art medium to try. I like realistic art but have no skill in drawing / painting.

    One day a little over a year ago I stumbled on Daz. Finally! A medium where I can make realistic looking things!

    Making art / creating things makes me really happy.

    I render in Iray and do little to no postwork. I do use MS Photos to crop and do basic, simple color or clarity editing from time to time.

    This is a complete departure from my normal work. I like bright, well-lit pics. She demanded to be created tho, so who am I to argue.

    This is Fatale.

    Resist if you can, use a picture hosting site if you can't.
    Either way, I look forward to the other 10,544 entries. Top three will be chosen; ties will be split. I would love to see the other 98% of passengers participate.
    I'm the only one NOT allowed to enter this contest. I've already got 100,000 points. The winners will be chosen by popularity and here on the voting thread - as not to conceal any favoritism on my part. Thank you to the three persons already posting their entry and thank you @Norbertz, your input is always appreciated. This is the best site of it's kind on the internet, so let's represent and represent artistically.

    Thanks a-g 🙂

    Many like angel_twins are just here for the goodies. Not a bad thing of course.

    Yes the Zone is the best site for sure but it seems once active members haven't been seen in months. Dunno what happened to members like Rob who would fire up a competition on a nearly weekly basis. Prolly got disheartened by the lack of participants.

    Hopefully @robf4g210 will grace this contest with his entry. I'm looking forward to that as well as yours @norbertz and @angel_twins because like you said we haven't seen the same members we used to see here. but if you hadn't noticed, the zone hasn't dried up and faded away either. So the bad news/good news is - those other members are missed and missing out, but the zone goes on regardless. Contest is open to everyone and every entry will now get that 1000 bonus as I mentioned I was contemplating. Not trying to bribe you, just showing you that I appreciate your participation as well. Thank you.

    @arthurgarcia

    I’ll make an extra effort to get an entry in, and thanks for lifting the entry fee of an upload. I always share what I buy, but I only buy what I want, and it’s been a while since I’ve wanted.

    I’ve been pretty busy running a group on DeviantArt (alongside a couple other familiar faces), but I need to remember my roots!

    If anyone wants to know my background in 3D art, they need only read the story @d0gg0d wrote. It’s verbatim. Right down to skinning The Sims!

    @La_Pucelle very nicely done, had a quick look at your Deviant page too, nice images.

    @arthur
    g Got my scene together, just have to do a bit of modelling and texturing now but am working late this week for at least two nights. Will post as soon as I can. Love the idea for this comp and the comments and entries so far.
