I do that all the time!
Just group the figures into fore/mid and backgroud and render the groups seperately, and pop em all together in photoshop.
Make sure to use the group option so you can turn them off with one click.

Once he played billiards around with this (http://bit.ly/2IrwCyh),
in something like this (http://bit.ly/2FMhcCX).
Frankly, it is better not to mix these things.
Is billiard your game?
Here, and now I'm playing Fallout ...😀March 15, 2018 at 9:12 PM #533349@tomsk : I never done it but that's actually a great idea. My computer freeze a bit when I'm putting figures in a group, but still that way I can make a bigger scene... Thanks for the tip.
@d0gg0d : At this point, I wish I had that many players. Our number of players really diminish as we grew older.March 15, 2018 at 9:23 PM #533356March 15, 2018 at 9:48 PM #533376Anonymous

@genady Lol! Billiards is not my game 🙂
March 15, 2018 at 10:54 PM #533441sounds good. do you use the focal point dial/setting?
March 16, 2018 at 12:52 PM #534110Adam, I don't really know how that would apply to DAZ, especially for Iray rendering, but, this is a trick that's as old as Poser's Firefly engine... when you have a scene too complex to render as a whole, you set everything up, and render shadows only (in Poser, I'd normally opt in for a Z Depth map at this stage, because creating focus blur on photoshop is some thousand times faster than rendering it). You'll end up with a white canvas with nothing but shadows, as each item in the scene would cast and receive them. Then, you turn all but the scenery itself, invisible, and run a shadows free render of it. Then, you turn the scenery invisible too, and revert the background characters visible, and render them alone. Then, you repeat the above process, rendering only the main characters of the scene. Export everything as TIF or PNG (to keep transparencies), and open photoshop, or paint shop pro, or gimp, or any editing suite that works with layers. Set the scenery render as bakground layer, then lay the shadows layer over it, and set blending mode to multiply, with an opacity of around 30-35%, then put background characters over that (play with layer matting, specifically defringe, if their edges are jagged), then lay another copy of the shadows layer over that, again multiply at opacity around 30-35%, then the main characters over that layer (again, defringe if needed), then, one more time, shadows layer over it, multiply, with opacity of around 30-35%. You can merge these together, at this point, unless you want to add some effects or additional elements.
March 16, 2018 at 1:04 PM #534123sounds like a plan, thanks! I tried about a month ago with 3 characters and the scene. I got a memory error after about a day if waiting. Shadows is what i was worried about so this may solve part of the problem. Ill try a little bit of everything.
