In recent days, I've seen people coddle smaller 3D creators and advocate for them, with some members in agreement.

Do these members who crave protection for their new bleeding heart online ''friends'', also advocate for the end of online piracy. Because it is a slppery slope. Once you advocate for certain groups, more will follow and tag along.

My stance is thus: I am a pirate. What I purchase, I share; either privately or publicly because I love the arts and believe that there should be no limitations on artistic expression.
In the same way as those Reformers in the 16th century believed that the Catholic Church should not have a monoploy on the Bible - and I am a nominal Catholic saying this.

Though most people on here render in 3D, many of us use those renders to compliment our photobashing/digtial paintings, etc. Primarily, I am a digital artist, who uses 3D assets to complete the work at a greater speed. And for @ethiopia I still like you, my friend, but calling those of us who can actually sketch and paint, be it trad or digital, and have been comissioned to do thus for over a decade, in order that you cape for your new friend, ''talentless'' is a terrible low, by my estimation. I can sketch, paint, etc - I own an easel and have canvasess at home in order to create - can your chum from 3Dshards say the same thing? But 3D assets aid in the speed of the completion of concept art - it has nothing to do with talent in the arts, or lack thereof.

I'm stil a pirate and I will continue to share, regardless of popular opinion. I had to struggle coming up and learning in the arts, and were it not for pirates; I'd be as unlearned as I was at sixteen. The smugness and fuck off mentality I received from so-called 'artists'' or fart sniffers, as I term them, was unreal. Which is why I'll always support those, who are swimming against the tide.

    Call me a fence sitter,

I do understand this is a pirate site. So yeah, I expect even the struggling artist content to appear here without any regards of their struggles to make the content.

We're all here for a reason too. (Obtaining more free 3D content for our own works and enjoyment.) There may be VERY few of us here that make items and sell them online, but I would feel safe to bet A LOT of us have thought about it. (And if you haven't, that's because you haven't made enough items to think about selling that model you made 3 years ago and never end up using.)

If members here like to participate in a sharing or pirating community and would like to keep the originator content they're sharing in mind and refrain from posting them publicly. I can understand that. But don't expect everyone to abide by your personal rules. This is a pirate & sharing community after all. I'll also understand if everyone here had a specific item they don't want share. (The reason for not sharing that item may vary.)

Now, will I share content of a artist I know personally? I don't know, it depends. But I would never put myself in a position where I basically publicly acknowledge I know a certain artist and ask everyone on a pirating site to not share their content because I know them personally. That's just a awkward situation to step into.

    Just my two cents

@kelsie332 I agree with most of what you said.

Posted in another thread but it is worth repeating.

People justifying being criminals by pretending they are something else and taking a moral high ground. We are better because we only steal from these people and that makes it ok.

The courts should allow anyone locked up for crimes to go free if they did it for a good reason.

@d0gg0d Then they should try to lock me up; although it might be difficult, as our criminal jusitce system is very lenient, on this side of the Alantic. lol

The red is socialist here; the blue, conservative,
I think - correct me if I'm wrong - that the US is the only Anglosphere country that opts for red as conservative and blue for liberal.

Anything I put up on the WWW, comments, opinions, art or whatever, I know is open to sharing/theft or copying and I know that well before I go in. I know that anything I do on my Google account or Reddit etc is having the shit data-mined/pirated out of it without my consent.
This is the reality of the on-line world we have created for ourselves so complaints of "you stole my stuff" is ignorant of this new reality. Everything we do online is shared with everyone and if one doesn't like that then disconnect from the WWW and go back to playing your Bee Gees at 45 RPM.

Many years ago, one of the first really great images I created was posted to
    a popular gallery.
I was extremely pleased with how it was received, it was the culmination
    of hours/days of work.
A few days later, a member of a blog I belonged to sent me a link.
When I clicked on the link I was taken to a popular CG site.
The link was to my image, there in all it's resplendent glory.
I was quite pleased......until I saw another's name submitted it.
I can still remember the lousy sinking feeling in my stomach as
I looked at it. In remembering the feeling has returned.
I was lucky, I knew the people who ran both blogs.
After a few hours the image was adjusted to reflect my name and the
thief was banned from the site.
No money was lost, no lessening of my reputation, just a feeling of
    loss.
No one who is involved with what we do, likes to see what they have
    created stolen.
But as I have learned, it is part of the life we have chosen to lead.
I would like to say I felt a little pride, a little honor in having
    something I created stolen'
I would really like to say that I have gotten used to the idea.
    I would be lying

What I left out was the feeling towards the individual who
    stole my "child".
Did not realize I was capable of that emotion.
Have to say this, I am one of the biggest request fillers.
Every time I fill a request, I know I am stealing from another
poor bastard who worked their asses off.
I tell myself that I am helping others who are less
    fortunate than I.
I try to justify my actions.
If you lie to yourself often enough, you start believing it.
Until a year ago, I was a member who came in bought points
took what I wanted and left.
One day in a conversation with a moderator I decided to
    give back.
I have been deluding myself that I am helping others.
I have to stifle the feeling I am no better than the individual
    who stole from me.
    "Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life!"

Ive had a member here use my art as an avatar. I thought it was cool he thought enough of my art to use it. I also felt a bit "irked" he didn't ask for permission. Then I remembered where I was.

I have family pictures i will never post online. Anything posted online is fair game. I post my art with no watermark some people seem to be fond of.

AI is the biggest art theif in history and its not stopping at pictures. Music, voices and your likeness are up for grabs.
AI makes you look like toddlers playing Jack Sparrow in a boat made from cardboard boxes.

By now anyone that posts online should understand its basically public domain once its uploaded. YouTube is flooded with people ripping other peoples content.
