@kandu, yeah, 1070, 1060 all good π Yes, GPU memory speed is more important, you're not really using onboard motherboard memory when rendering, unless there just isn't any GPU memory available. That was a critical factor when weighing out which GPU i wanted. I wanted my GPU to handle physics and rendering 100%, and the CPU could do all the non eye candy math.
December 19, 2019 at 4:45 AM #1383845i would also add do not use any daz lights to light your scene. not only are they a pain but they are slow. render using HDRI's, emissives, or a combination of both. your images will look better and render faster.
December 19, 2019 at 5:33 AM #1383880I'm started using Daz Studio in 2017 and currently I'm still using a 4.9 version of Daz Studio. My PC specs isn't superb.
Processor: Intel Pentium CPU G3258 @ 3.20GHz (2 cores)
RAM: 12.0 GBInstalled GPU in 2019, MSI Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050Ti. Link below is my old render (CPU render) before I installed the Graphic Card.

December 19, 2019 at 6:13 AM #1383907@cybelle. with your current spec, try rendering in 3Delight rather than iRay. the results aren't as good, but it'll render without the black spots, and much faster.
Also, another trick is to hide one of the figures, render, than render again having swapped the visibility. Then composite the two images in an art program. It'll give better results, in arguably faster time.
Another favourite trick is to render double the size, and then reduce down in an image editor.
There are many other tricks to Daz. Play with the render settings until you get something useful. I don't let my machine render for more than about fifteen minutes unless I have to.

You can just get a lot more for your money if you sacrifice portability. Also the longer you wait the better old stuff gets. Should easily be able to build a machine to handle most Daz content. Only bump I've had lately is some hair. It still renders fine but moving stuff around while its visible is annoying.
Ive never built a system from scratch so before you build one check the total cost.
It may be possible to get one pretty close to specs already together for not much more. Ive heard various things online and from what Ive picked up it depends on what you want.December 19, 2019 at 6:38 AM #1383939>Also, another trick is to hide one of the figures, render, than render again having swapped the visibility. Yeah, for potato PC, i used this trick a lot, and used spot render, it's helping a lot, well, my laptop is ancient potato with Nvidia Geforce 610M, I need at least an hour to reach satisfying render of simple image, but if it work,it's work, gotta buy stronger laptop/PC next year with y budget (probably will not a dazzling PC,but at least it will better than 610M, hopefully i can get something near 1000 series with my limited budget
