I don't get it. Why would those renders make people laugh ?

Aside from not using focus blur these renders look great to me.

Thanks guys! Photo blur wasn't what I was really after as I needed clarity across the image. Depth of field is something I have been using in other images though.

These images are created on a fairly limited (graphics-wise) laptop so render time and lighting effects are providing a bit of a challenge until I get back to a desktop with a more powerful graphics card. 🙂

Neat stuff, the interior scene of the star trek gal is lacking shadows but other than that, all looks fine.

We are about the same vintage btw 🙂

Thanks 🙂 I wanted the shadows out of that to give an ambient feel to the corridor, but I get what you mean as it does kinda make it feel a little odd.

Used to be a time I would make several passes when rendering. One of them would be an ambient occlusion pass, which can add some nice shading in areas where a surface changes direction. In scenes where there is no obvious direct light, it can add a nice touch to the final image.
