Actually, the 3070 isn't bad but don't expect a huge increase in render times. It's the low 8GB of Vram that's the killer if your scene is maxed out.

I gather you mean decrease in render times Billy H.
I think that the 3070 will be significantly faster than the 1050ti.

From a 1050ti yes. But miracles were peddled claiming all those juicy CUDA cores would show us the way, they didn't. Iray in DS needs a huge overhaul.

The last time Nvidia overhaled Iray they broke Ghost Lights in DS by changing the way opacity/transparency was handled, in fact all non-geometric emissive surfaces are now not supported.
I use a Ghost Light in all of my indoor scenes so I'm sticking with my current version of DS and Iray. The Daz mods say Iray is now more realistic in the way it deals with light so don't complain. Funny how when a hugely popular DS feature gets broken we're told it's actually a positive.

I like broken software and the fixes that come with it to break it even more. We are not allowed to complain since DS is free, all we can do it pull our hair out if we update Studio and it all goes wrong. And people breaking the bank so they can render that little bit faster.. We love the DS metaverse, don't we? 🙂
