As we all know we are getting 2080ti performance for 3070. (so much price saving.) and we have 8nm which means we have so many NVIDIA CUDA Cores Daz loves more CUDA cores and gddr6 and 6x memory.
That's it for hardware improvements but important things are below.GPU Accelerated Storage Technology:- this tech is simple. As in the place of CPU, the GPU will handle the files streaming. (Daz 3d scenes loading speed will drastically increases with this.)
NVIDIA DLSS:- not a new thing but if Daz uses NVIDIA DLSS to upscale the render like Full-HD to 4k or even cool 4k to 8k.
NVIDIA Omniverse Machinima:- This is most interesting thing for us. "NVIDIA Omniverse Machinima enables creators to tell amazing stories with video game assets, animated by NVIDIA AI technologies. Through the NVIDIA Omniverse Platform, creators can import assets from supported games or most third-party asset libraries, then automatically animate characters using an AI-based pose estimator and footage from their webcam. Characters’ faces can come to life with only a voice recording using NVIDIA’s new Audio2Face technology."
with this, we can pose the characters damn easily but we still don't know does it support cross-software compatibility. All this happens only if Daz makers wish.
September 2, 2020 at 5:48 AM #1624377And improved denoising "Creative workflows are riddled with hurry up and wait. GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs aim to reduce the wait, giving creators more time to focus on what matters: creating amazing content. GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs are enabling the next wave of AI-powered creative features, reducing or even eliminating repetitive creative tasks such as image denoising, reframing and retiming of video, and creation of textures and materials."
September 2, 2020 at 10:23 AM #1624391yes, these are a large investment for the studio. like rewriting the whole code of Daz might be needed. Daz always updates to the latest tech so lately. I hope we can see these techs in daz 5.0.
September 2, 2020 at 11:09 AM #1624401If Omniverse Machinima is real and DAZ doesn't take advantage of it while competitors do, it will kill Studio. That is coming close to the holy grail of 3D animation, which is AI-driven story-telling. It would take a complete rewrite of Studio of course.
Perhaps this is the beginning of the death knell for Studio. They can become R'ostiy and just provide content (yeah, I know they bought Poser but Poser is long past it's useful shelf life). I hope that DAZ steps up and updates Studio to keep up with technology, but based on their past performance, I doubt it.
November 22, 2021 at 5:48 PM #1751252daz never bother about realtime animation..
it only bothers about visual still frame with iray
November 22, 2021 at 9:31 PM #1751282"I would guess that this old code will not allow implementing something so new."
Not so sure about that - they've always kept that decoupled. The render portion of the app is separate and semi-distinct, and can even be written to run independently (not sure if there's an additional license distribution cost required for that). We see some of this behavior in the fact that you can render in 3DL, Iray, OGL, or Filament. Also, with an external free (downloadable) 3Delight CLI application, you can hand off a scene to be rendered externally (I used to do it alot to allow me to fart around with DS while an external 3DL engine handled a render.) Awhile back, you could even do it with separate apps like Octane or Reality (by way of plugin that just interprets the viewport scene into a format that either engine can digest) - I still think you can.
The only real trick is to write the (temp) file in a way that takes advantage of the new features before handing it off to the render engine portion (which can be 32-bit, 64-bit, 256-bit... who cares?) The render window is probably similar to a web iframe portal that just viewports the render engine output from its temp slot in RAM or from temp file on disk (never looked/tested to see which.)
November 23, 2021 at 12:38 AM #1751296There's a thread on the Daz forum promising an exciting new update to DS. The response has been like kids looking in a candy shop window, but I've been around long enough not to get excited by announcements by Daz Corp. of "exciting new things".... so many have turned out to be complete flops.
November 25, 2021 at 7:55 AM #1751849I found that thread on Daz, all 32 pages of it. Can somebody nutshell it here, the major benefits and upcoming cons?
November 26, 2021 at 5:42 AM #1752065daz-promising update. More likely something irrelevant like support for unix or windows 3.11. I hope they put resources into the "daz not responding" issue, or fixing extreme load times, or adding amd support. I would even sette for a simple optimization of the program
November 27, 2021 at 1:58 AM #1752294Hey @Pumpher. Now I've got a few more characters my load times for G8F are about 20 seconds, which isn't that bad. Apparently the more characters you have installed the longer it takes to load the base figure. What times are you getting? On the Daz forums the average time seems about 2 minutes or less.
November 27, 2021 at 2:32 AM #1752305@Frank22 Lol! 20 seconds? It takes all of 6 mins for me to load a G8female figure, but considerably less for an equivelant male, under three minutes and about the same for a G3F character, and they are loaded with morphs. That said, I'm still stuck in a time morph with GTX cards, 1070 ti to be precise. Maybe Santa will be good to me this year and I'll move up to an RTX 30 series. One can only hope 🙂
November 27, 2021 at 4:42 AM #1752322Well I'm very judicious about what I install and these days I mostly DL models for their skin textures and don't install the character itself. I hope you can get a 3000 series because it made a huge difference when I went from a 1060 to a 2080 a few years back.... render times not load times, not sure if affects that. I'm expecting a $11,400 tax refund cheque but, as tempting as it is, I won't be blowing it on any new hardware. The 2080 suits me just fine and does everything I need.

At last a way to shut off all the unused morphs.November 27, 2021 at 8:00 AM #1752345".....fantastic preview and even usable renders in 1 to 2mins"... @Pumpher
I thought I was the only one to use Iray preview to render images LOL. The difference is negligible even without displacement (no displacement in preview) and it can save a ton of time compared to a full render on hard to render scenes.
November 27, 2021 at 8:18 AM #1752350Better load times is what I would like to most.
@strangebricks, does the morphs enable and disable on the fly without having to restart Daz? -
