    Lots of valuable info there LP. But when you publish (share) your image online, it can't be in .exr format and will usually be as a lossy .jpg. I suppose if your intention is to print it then .exr would be good.
    So like Alice with the baby, you can nurse a perfect image all you like, but it'll inevitably turn into a pig.

    That's my method too LP. I usually go back and make adjustments (spot renders) to my images and re-saving a lossy image format will seriously degrade quality. And of course image sharing sites will also do a bit of their own compression, even if you upload a lossless image.
    Out of curiosity, some PAs use PNGs for their skin maps at +10MB per map. Do you see much advantage in that?

    .... and seeing that I usually modify the skin maps themselves (hue/saturation and other tweaks), doing that with a PNG and re-saving doesn't lose generational quality.
