I did read your thread and I stand by what I said.
December 19, 2020 at 10:49 AM #1650998I think it should be ultimately up to the person who buys the product and goes in the thread to share it with everyone else. If he feels anything less than 500 points is not worth his time than he has the right to refuse to send a link. I don't think enforcing minimum points for requests is the way to go.
December 19, 2020 at 11:13 AM #1651004Please. This will not force leechers to share content. If anything, the total amount of points in request threads will go down significantly, because guess what? Not everyone can afford to make 500-1000 point requests on things.
Second, "Surely, if anyone then decides to privately give items for 0 points in a PM that’s his/her business, but on the threads I would like to see the proposed rules enforced."
December 19, 2020 at 11:24 AM #1651007Then edit your first post so it reflects on your actual current thoughts? Not everyone has the time to read 7 pages of wall of text.
It wouldn't because they will just wait for it to come up in the blog instead. I do agree with your point about the people offering 0 points and 25 points is ridiculous. It shouldn't be below 100 points.
December 19, 2020 at 12:06 PM #1651017So I speak for myself when I say this. I usually give 200-500 points per item. The reason why I don't "wait" for it to be in the blog is because:
#1: I want to contribute something towards an item I really like and is not available yet on the site.
#2: Because I will get notified when it's available and I don't have to keep checking the blog if it's up all the time.December 19, 2020 at 1:15 PM #1651044I think I knew what Legolas18 was trying to say and in the end it's the basics of sharing sites.
Points are a good system although not the best and indeed it shouldn't matter too much. For example, there are users here offering 100-200-300 etc (bellow 500) BUT they're actually sharing what they have bought with their own money. I see no problems there. In the end I use to send PM's to everyone who has asked for the item.
The "problem" (which is not a problem itself it's just a logical effect of every sharing site outta there) is that some people will ONLY make requests and don't contribute a single time. IMO it's a minor problem cause I didn't see a lot of people like these for the days I've been in. On the contrary, usually requesters are users actually sharing/buying. So...
Solution? Well, maybe a rule of sharing X items prior to make requests? I don't know.
As always, ask this yourself: Do you really want people here to help you in the future/present with your requests? Share and help. Don't want to put a single $ from your pocket and are waiting people here fullfill your requests? That won't work.
I think we're going circles with this thread, haha.

lol. Points don't equal money. You come to the site, you get 100 points. You wait 5 days and then make a request. Everyone can afford to offer 500 points. Many can't afford to make twenty 500 point requests a day however. People with a lot of points get them 4 ways:
1. They share new content and fill requests
2. They've been here a long time and accumulated points over several years
3. They buy them
4. They contribute through dead links or art competitions2 of these methods cost actual money. Buying something on sale can be as low as $3. 2 of these methods cost time, but we're talking minutes, not hours or days.
This thread was dead the second it was posted. Zelmon 2.0

The vast majority of the users of this site don't make requests and they don't fill them or share anything. There are thousands of users here. Most of them just come here, get points, then download stuff (or usually, wait until 3d-load or render-state leeches it and upload from there).
The internal struggle of the those who share and those who leech. We should all applaud hunter for coming up with this system. It may not work perfectly, but it works for almost everyone, which is better than all the others out there.
December 19, 2020 at 8:48 PM #1651156@legolas18 Its EXACTLY what I think its about. 95% plus members here don't share, don't post.
I'm another person that has offered, 5K, 10k, 15k for individual items multiple times. There's only 2 results.
1- nobody shares the item
2- People hang onto that item until a bounty is ridiculously high. (and sometimes even then its not posted).
People will either share or not share. PERIOD! A lot of people just share without holding items hostage. The non bounty posts far outnumber the bounty posts.
By placing a bounty minimum it's holding items hostage.
Why should it matter? It shouldn't. if YOU don't want to fill the request, don't.Just scroll past. Its really that simple.
150 pts is 3 items you get to download for FREE. Using $20 as an average price per item, thats $60 worth of product. .Plus the extra sales once posted. On top of that, theres the 100 pts per day visits you get FOR FREE, that you like to point out.
Its non of your business why someone only offers 50-200 pts. There's a lot of items being posted here by very generous people. Be grateful for those, as well as the requesters that introduce new item interest, no matter the bounty amount.
Also, if you want to start changing all the rules, create and host your OWN site.
December 19, 2020 at 8:50 PM #1651157@legolas18 Oh and BTW, its not your job to give people a hard time.
December 19, 2020 at 9:14 PM #1651159legolas18 was just offering a suggestion. No harm in that. If you don't like it, ignore it.
People offer suggestions occasionally here. It's really nothing for folks to get all worked up about.
December 19, 2020 at 10:36 PM #1651175Well I see finally members who share are getting tired of 150pts offered etc.
I buy and share what ever I can and no I don't post it to the blog just so 15 min
later it shows up else where. I can stop by 3d-load and know whats been posted here on Zone. I have always bought content and am willing to share, it I have been doing this from the 90's till now. I have been on several forums big and small we all shared with others. Zone is the only place I share on, this is a great group effort and it works.
I will not send links to anyone that has offered less than 500pts etc. Its just going to be that way to bad too. I can see who shares and I thank you for it. I will send to ppl that bid low if they are also sharing. That's my 2¢ worth. Doodlebug
December 20, 2020 at 4:39 AM #1651266I, for one, welcome our new idea.
Legolas18 has an inventive and original suggestion.
And it could work.
as one of the ones holding the ladle filling the pot so to speak, it has merit.
This could be a positive move.December 20, 2020 at 10:15 AM #1651350Loose quote: Be grateful for .... requesters that introduce new item interest, no matter the bounty amount.
This counts for a lot. The time saved is invaluable. I'm seeing a lot less requests than a week or so ago.
December 21, 2020 at 9:51 AM #1651734@legolas18
We can disagree on the why/how shared point. We can agree to disagree on the points, but I stand by what I said. Its about the points because of low bids, other wise it wouldnt be a problem.
However, if you want to only focus on the aspect of it only getting people to share, I don't see how forcing people to ante up more points causing less requests is supposed to achieve that.LOL, believe me, its non of your business why. Just because it annoys you doesn't mean its your business. Just scroll past. Thats a you problem.
Sorry.. You are incorrect. You do not have the prerogative to be a bully and give another a bad time because YOU think its right.
Bottom line, everyone contributes in their own way. Someone mentioned it earlier. Contests, sharing content, posting their art, helping others, downloading and even requesting. Its not JUST a sharing site. The interaction here is important.
