My take on the points was to give new members an incentive to buy new products to fill requests. Once you hit 80,000 points its kinda pointless to get more points.
People then start dumping points on personal contests.If its free anywhere it should be posted in the free section. If it was free and no longer available then it goes in the pay section with a description. If its free and you change the paint on it then you need to link the free item and if they want to pay 100 points for a paint job then so be it.
If you feel the point system is pointless then just post all your purchased in the free section. Even though I think its pointless after a couple months, I still like getting points for uploads.
I think people could use basic common sense to figure out whats right/wrong but they choose not to either because they want to cheat the system, they don't care or they have no common sense. It could be all of those.
Mostly it doesnt matter in the long run since anything posted here is listed on other sites in seconds. I guess we can feel good about supplying the net with free Daz stuff. If you havent already Ive listed a TON of old poser stuff in large batches. GO DL that since most places dont offer that any more and gimme some points.
I think it would help if the free stuff wasn't posted in some back alley forum page.
Also if they created the link to form field with a script to disable the option to put NA or NLA or Not available and only have it able to post things from Daz, Renderosity, Renderotica or a few of the other daz\poser stuff this will solve the problem.
With that said I wont be posting anymore Star Trek stuff for points because One I don't need to and Two putting it on a back alley forum page will only be good for 1 or 2 forum heavy readers which will just be a waste of time since a lot of people wont be seeing it either way.
I would post on other site but even they have strict rules on posting stuff some to point where they just kick people out for not following rules. Maybe that's whats needed here I guess.
The suits are similar to JJVerse, but at least its the TMP Refit and not the JJPrise.
99.9% of Trek stuff is free and easily obtained from numerous places. And I have 99.99% of that.

This is the reason why i never, ever went in the "free" section of the forum. I did clicked a few time on this section to see what it looked like and see if i could find things there that would be interesting, but finding anything there is so conculated. There is no easy way to browse and see quickly all that is available. (Like on the blog)
Post/items get in time buried has more post get posted.
Trying to search something there with the seach function is horrible as the way the result are displayed are not user friendly. And if you can get result of post that have nothing to do with what you are searching just because someone wrote that word in his post.Maybe there would be things there interesting for me, but i just gave up on that section of the forum.
Idealy, i guess what would be a good solution, it would be to create like a second tab/blog on the website just like the current one, where people could post the "free" items there. And downloading anything there wouldn't taxe your points. But i assume doing that would require quite some work and some decent overhaul of the website mechanic. Something i'm not sure the admins are interested in spending time on right now.
I never look in the free section, I don't even know where it is. Once a twice I seen something posted on the homepage post trail but I never looked at anything there. If I'm looking for something I just put it in the search next to my profile picture. If it doesn't appear there I just go look on another website.
The Star Trek stuff are all over but many of them are a pain in the ass to work with in Daz especially the uniforms. I found a forum page with a huge list of ways create a uniform but the amount of work you have to do just to get it to work on a Genesis 2 or 3 or even an 8 is a pain in the ass!! You will end up spending so much time to fit the clothes in a T pose just to find out as soon as you pose it the whole thing goes to hell!!
Even the ship in that picture was a pain in the ass because none of the lights worked so I had to spend hours searching throw all the parts to find a way to light the ship similar to how it would look in the movies. I spent so much time on that I don't even want to try to make actual Star Trek Uniforms for the render. Those are just normal spacesuits in daz.
Anyway free stuff should be posted the say way points stuff are so people can find things they need without having to dig.
I don't have a problem with the ships. Of course I've been working with them for a long time. I usually don't use Daz for those though as I'm partial to Bryce. And even then I just render the ship, do a mask render, then pull everything into Photoshop since I do my own backgrounds.
The crap thing about the uniforms is the fact that nobody will update to the newer models, such as G3 or G8. Everyones still stuck on M4/V4 for cosplay costumes.
