Some time ago I posted a freebee on here because I didn't completely understand the dynamics of how this site is suppose to operate. I just noticed the thing wasn't here and thought peeps might want it. I got no pm about it, the post just switched to "free". It wasn't until recently that I come to realize how this whole thing works.
I paid for that link but I'm not going to throw a fit about it, I did it too. I sent the guy a pm and I honestly don't think he realized what he did. Perhaps give some grace and shoot a warning pm if someone does something like this again so they can be informed.
So the faq, that page is jacked up for me. IDK if that's something on my end or everyone is seeing it. There's huge plus and minus graphics on that page that take up the whole screen.
The end of the day, I'm not running this place, just my two-cents.
Last week, I collected PBR materials from one of those sites with free content behind a click wall. It took about 15 clicks by material to get the files with the preview images. The whole process took me hours to complete. I have 300+ of those materials in a mega folder, if I was to create a download link here, I would save considerable time and efforts to the people downloading my links, so 2 questions:
Where would I put these materials here? In the custom content for 200 points ?
Then, would it get send back to the free section because it is technically free content?thx
Repackaging and donations
both great suggestions but I don't think I'm good enough to create Iray shaders, the best I could do would be to use existing shaders and switch the texture set, maybe tweak some dials
Or, maybe someone else here is a material specialist and would be interested in some teamwork?
Obviously, I would post such a thing for points so donations sound great! most will not pay but good members will make up for it ?! maybe

Reading the above there are two things:
1 there is a lot off stuff out there for free, and just "linking through"should be in the free section.
2 rendercola says it took hours to get all the stuff together. I do some converting at times, wich takes a lot of time ( tweaking) to. basicly I use a product that is already out there, spend some time editting, and put it up for the basic points in the "general"section.
To be honest I do not see much difference, we both put in some effort, to share with the rest.
If you are a member long enough, and do share stuff, points are not an issue anymore, (unless you have a big wish list).
So I do not mind "paying"some points for effort.
Just downloading a free item, upload it to google drive and charge points is a different thing.That's how I see things
I posted this here in the Chat Forum just last week because I knew the FAQ was not likely to be read---- didn't work did it 😒. Apart from tying it to bricks and throwing it through windows, there's not much left.
I know I saw your post Frank right after my comments and felt like a jackass lol
But, to be fair, I think I counted 18 stickied posts ?! Not so attention grabing now you can't see from day to day if the count has changed, you just scroll down to the posts.
And people don't read labels on dangerous things/products, what makes you think they'll read a FAQ about rules from a pirate website? Not gonna happen, ever.
I've read the FAQ btw lol. It was full of pluses and minuses.

Even though I've sometimes spent hours converting and re-working models for Free Resources, the models were free to me so I'd like them to remain free. And some may feel obligated to pay points if asked. Personally I see it as a way of contributing to the community for people like me who don't regularly share paid items.

I just realized, I didn't know there was a freebie section before this thread! And I also had to search a bit longer to find it! 🤦♂️🤷♂️ So a few adjustments might already be helpful.😂
I've done my share of (mis)posting freebies on the blog.. especially one I posted at 1 in the morning (in my defence.. I was half asleep) and realized it after I posted it.. sent a PM to the mods immediately asking them to change it to a free item before it went live..
.. and another one which one of Zoners PM'd me about being free and that was also changed..
