@drgnmztr Daz Studio wasn't free as a stand alone in the Pre-Genesis Era. They went free with Genesis 1.
As for hating Daz, I still hate Daz. :p
What I was saying was that if Adobe bought Daz they'd no doubt try and make it part of their idiotic creative cloud.
Probably also make a new Genesis generation that uses Mixamo's skeleton... which actually wouldn't be terrible.
June 25, 2019 at 5:34 PM #1133137Daz Studio 3 Advanced was a paid version but that didn't last very long as folks just weren't buying it and with the free version of Studio 3 running alongside it, the benefits of the paid version were miniscule.
All this LaFemme stuff looks pretty naff to me. If the renders for products are anything to go by then Daz has nothing to worry about for a very long time ahead. That may change though, and I hope it does. I'd hate Daz to get lazy and complacent as competition is a great driver to better yourself, and drive down prices. I really hope they make a success of it. Competition is healthy, for my pocket. 😉
June 26, 2019 at 12:27 AM #1133485Like I said, it was free during V3 or V4 , I can't remember which, but you had to install it with Poser, which as far as I knew it was the only way to get it. I never paid for Daz itself. I have no idea what version it was. That was a very long time ago. Maybe that was the free version. Don't know. I just didn't know there was a paid version. No matter..
June 26, 2019 at 1:32 AM #1133552Those that bought Studio 3 Advanced and the first Studio 4 Pro got a refund or goods for like when the benefits of both were incorperated into the free version, so technically they were actually free.
June 26, 2019 at 11:11 AM #1134027Agreed @plebby. The promos I've seen look like Genesis quality, maybe a little more. Not even G2 quality. I'm curious if anyone has used LaFemme and what they think compared to G2 or G3. RendoPoser can't be 2 or 3 generations behind DAZ and expect to make a dent. If they really want to compete, they need to give us a reason to go back to Poser, not be 4 years behind.
June 27, 2019 at 3:53 AM #1134951@ulysses I think a lot of that is due to Poser's render engine. It just doesn't look very good.
June 27, 2019 at 4:46 AM #1134997Way back when I got cracked versions of poser and even though Daz was free I liked using Poser. Easy to make morphs, fitting room and just seemed easier to pose figures. I eventually lost interest because my system couldnt handle anything except minor renders and even then it was difficult. I came back and started Dling stuff from KAT again. Mostly movies and music. I decided to try Daz again since I really didnt want to try and find a current virus free poser file and I saw a ton of content for Daz figures. Another thing that swayed me to Daz was reading forums of Poser people trying to get new Daz figures to work in poser. It took me a bit to warrm up to Daz the figures and renders just seemed easier for me to get acceptable results. I still miss some parts of poser but I cant see myself ever going back unless poser makes some kind of huge technical leap forward and incorporates Daz content compatibility efficiently + effectively. A half hearted attempt at a figure that has 1/30th of the support that G8 has will not save them. It may however keep them afloat till they can find something that will.
