Ive brought and posted 2 items here because because someone was sharing the items behind a points door and wouldn't make them public.
Ive refused trades because they weren't going to share it publicly.
I went on a campaign against points and backdoor trades before I removed all my posts. It wasn't many but it wasn't none either. I tend to buy products others wouldn't because they were odd and not posted quickly.
Now, if I buy, it will be something I want and I rarely want much. Between real life issues and wants, Daz isn't a priority. Do I spend $6 for a cup of coffee with friends today or buy you a digital toy you dont appreciate?
If it means I'm relegated to collecting scraps then it is what it is. I gave up long ago and honestly its not that important. It's extremely easy to find something else to waste time on.
November 4, 2024 at 3:58 AM #2100170Seems to me the most obvious result of this new reward scheme is the vast majority now being shared is a repost as people scramble to get points, rather than new stuff.
November 4, 2024 at 4:21 AM #2100172If points are going to expire, should we then use what we have quickly before they go away? It was a lot of work getting the points I have, and I like having points for when something pops up that I would like. There's not always stuff I want on an everyday basis.
November 4, 2024 at 4:32 AM #2100174Jeebus. I took the time to go thru all 15 pages of posts on this topic, wading thru the crying and gnashing of teeth about not getting points for just logging in. I came to ZoneGFX for the same reason most people did; the content. If the free points go away in favor of having to purchase them, so be it. I FOR ONE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE SITE. Since I haven't a clue how to take my existing content and build installable packages out of them, I will just happily buy points in order to help keep the servers alive.
The final decision on how to handle the points system is entirely up to the admins. The folks how contribute the content are absolute rock stars in my book.
November 4, 2024 at 4:39 AM #2100176I don't really have a dog in this fight because I gave 3D the shaft a year ago for AI. The only reason I value points is for -
1. Rank bragging rights
2. Contributing to art competitions
3. Giving them away and encouraging nice members with fewer
The first reason is stupid, but the other two are a concern regarding expiring points. I think we deserve a how and when this is going to be a new rule.November 4, 2024 at 4:44 AM #2100178Including this one you have 3 comments in 8 months.
No clue as to your points record. Either I forgot how to look or they removed it.
You finally decided to interact with the community?
November 4, 2024 at 4:46 AM #2100179November 4, 2024 at 6:32 AM #2100191Hello, greetings. Well, I woke up today and I see that my account exists but I don't see the daily reward points, and also the ones I had have been deleted. My surprise is when I enter the forum and read this article...! Well, I am a retiree who only entertains himself by downloading some products that I use to spend the day entertaining and then delete. Now I will have to find my way through other alternative sites, which I have been able to see on the Internet. Anyway, I thank you for the time you offered me and I was able to enjoy your gifts. Thank you

Your points have been deleted? The suggestion that points may expire hasn't to my knowledge been implemented. I would ask questions why your points have been taken away.November 4, 2024 at 10:12 AM #2100252Taking into account the enormous amount of material uploaded to 3DLOAD, Render-State and Shadowcore just hours after being uploaded here in the last two days, it is assumed that so much complaining about level 1 and new users is actually absurd, because no We don't move that many points even if we don't want to.
They are high-ranking that on this website, which are the ones that can really handle 3000-4000 points at a time.
So, are we the problem, or are the "infiltrators" at high levels, and we are just the excuse?Another question. Is material labeled "2024" (for example) really worth it when the changes with previous versions are minimal (or none)?
Because I see that as if Apple release an iPhone that you pay for, so that they release another "more modern" one whose only change is that they have moved the camera to another place.November 4, 2024 at 1:53 PM #2100286How about this:
All items to be shared on the Zone go into a pool.
Level 5 and above get exclusive access to those items for a week.
Level 4 then gets added so that they can access during the second week.
Then level 3 gets added for a week, then level 2 and eventually it's posted on the blog for all.Daily log in points are restored so people can make requests. But being part of requests doesn't mean you get the item any faster than your level would allow. Points are then just used by lower level users to boost items getting filled faster.
Private sharing would be highly discouraged by Hunter. I don't know how that would be enforced, but mods should never engage in it and try and stamp it out when discovered.
This way:
Everyone eventually gets the item as all items will make it to the blog after a month or so.
PAs have a greater timeframe for sales, not cannibalizing our sources.
Those with greater points/higher levels (almost always sharers) derive benefit from sharing. This would somewhat reestablish the KAT-like nature of the founders with bandwidth and priority being replaced with points and levels but if you hang there long enough, you get the item. It should also encourage more people sharing to get higher levels, which now mean something.
November 4, 2024 at 2:23 PM #2100291@ulysses The site barely gets small technical changes right now. Why come up with completely new systems that will have their own technical challenges to implement?
The current system works perfectly fine and there's no need to restore the daily points just so the leeches come back. The encouragement to share is the point system, which can be gained by sharing or participating. Everyone can get access to items if they participate. It's that simple.
There's no need to create entirely new systems just to cater to those that want access to everything with no effort or contribution.
November 4, 2024 at 4:01 PM #2100319@kelsie332, if that's the attitude of the majority of sharers, then let's just move to a completely private sharing site and be done with it. Only those who contribute get access to the items shared here.
I'm cool either way.
November 4, 2024 at 4:36 PM #2100325Assuming there is any kind of intention to keep no uploading users interested (no matter how residual), and looking for a compromise between everyone’s desires I’d like to propose something. I don’t know whether it would be technically feasible, but even in case it weren’t maybe it could give the admins some ideas. The particular numbers are just an example of how it could work, but I hope you get the idea:
1 - I consider the standard cost of an item is 50 points.
2 - Remove the registration bonus, to discourage account duplication.
3 - The 100 points login bonus is reinstated, BUT
4 - Each download increases the cost for the user according to its level. For instance:
Level 1: each downloaded item increases the cost of the next download in 25 points
Level 2: 10 points increment
Level 3 and above: no increment
5 - Apart form its point reward, uploads decrease your cost, again, based on your level (never below the base cost, of course). For example:
Level 1: each upload decreases your cost in 25 points
Level 2: 100 points decrease
Level 3 and above: no decrease (no need for it, since there is no increase either)
6 - Accumulated points also decrease your cost, Since downloads yield points to the uploader, this would reward most downloaded items and people who made a sensible use of the site not leeching indiscriminately. For example:
Level 1: 25 cost decrease for each 1000 points
Level 2: 100 cost decrease for each 1000 points
Level 3 and above: again, no need for it
7 - Optional: You could cap the cost at a reasonable value, or grant a small reduction monthly to each account based on its age and or level. Newly created accounts would receive a smaller (or zero) reduction, discouraging passivity or account duplicity. This way, occasional visitors could always download something as long as they are regular and don’t abuse the system. If they do, they will rapidly run out of points, and constantly created new fake accounts would be of little use because of their slow progress. This also enocurages leveling up. The numbers should be carefully tweaked to maximize the efectiveness, but I think this could work, unless there is a way to cheat this system I haven’t thought of.
Maybe this is too convoluted or simply impossible to implemment but, as I say, I’m just trying to help finding a fair balance for all kinds of users. If my initial assumption is wrong, just ignore all this.
November 4, 2024 at 5:42 PM #2100335Keab.......seriously, if i might.
How long did it take to write that?
Not to mention how much coffee? -
