I've just purchased Shinzui Hanabi and stumpled upon this along the way.
I'm not really new to the site, but haven't uploaded anything until recently-ish.
A couple things since late fall when the pandemic hit my area hard.I was just curious as to the proper etiquette of how these point offerings work when you upload something that has been requested.
Other than the "PM for Points", which is quite obvious and straightforward, is there anything else I need to do?@redbeard90 -- The usual way it goes is that you upload the item to one of the approved file sharing sites (see the FAQ), then PM a link to that file to everyone who requested the item in this thread. Ideally, you'll also include a link to this thread in your PM so everyone can come and double-check how many points they offered. At that point everyone will transfer the points to you that they promised.
Then, sometime in the next week or so after you've received points from everyone, you can upload the link to the blog if you want, which will get you more points as people pick it up from there. If you don't post it on the blog within a week or two, someone else can post it instead.

So does this mean I should just wait and get 'em next time around rather than messaging people inquiring about points for something they could just click 'Download' on through a blog post?The easiest way to do it is, before you decide to make a purchase, check the blog to see if it is available. If it is, then you can save yourself a few dollars. If not, then check the request section of forums and see if it has been requested.
If not, you can:
a) make a request and offer a 'bounty', or
b) buy it yourself then post it if you wish.
If it has been requested, you can:
a) buy it and fill said requests, or
b) wait and see if somebody is going to fill the requestExtremely simplified here - combined with Because's post, should be fairly complete
