I had a new notification, but I don't know where it came from

I think the notifications may need to be reset in the backend for some users as it might be the only solution unfortunately

Oh the notification finally appeared on my profile page somehow (once I updated my profile picture lol) and I just closed it. it's now permanently gone. maybe changing anything in your profile like profile image makes it appear? anyway it's now solved for me

so the solution is to change your profile image and the notification will appear.

apparently changing the profile image makes that notification finally appear for us to close it, it worked for me and ulysses so this is definitely a bug

Ah found it.

It is the notice about creating GMail accounts which appears on your user page.

Once you have read it, click the blue X.

Issue goes away.

Upload profile pic and cover pic you will see that notification .. Then click cross ... and it will be gone 😀

Site-wide notifications will literally not appear unless the user has a profile image. It's 100% a bug/glitch and I replicated it with the latest gmail notice twice now.

You can test this by deleting your profile image when you see a site-wide notification, then once you click the notification, it won't appear.
