As this is not a political forum, I will not debate politics here. Suffice it to say that the lack of action on the part of the US government, as well as the [somewhat] inadequate actions elsewhere around the world (though I will admit the US is largely to blame) have caused this pandemic to escalate at an alarming rate worldwide. And I am sure we will not see the end of it before the end of this year, and quite possibly a good portion of next year as well.
Please stay safe! Wear a mask - if not for yourself, then think of the others around you...
August 14, 2020 at 8:38 AM #1620805Fortunately, I am not adim. (I have enough work ...) I just think that if I am in a forum on "Japanese cuisine", I think it is not very rational to make a post on "The sexual life of platypus ...". (Or maybe, he's in a relationship ..)
It is an example of nonsense ... Of course, everyone is free to express themselves.
Can I open a thread on "How to handle a chainsaw properly"? 😀August 14, 2020 at 9:06 AM #1620807Anonymous

You're right. With so much sabre rattling going on politicians can't agree on anything constructive. But then again it's not them who are in control.
Their donors want more and more money, so it's business as usual until something, or someone wipes us from the face of the planet. Now I know why the space race is on. They'll be off if it all collapses.I'm glad your Cousin recovered. A real shame about his attitude though. If I had it and recovered I'd be wearing a bio-suit to go out.
Stay safe buddy.
August 14, 2020 at 9:22 AM #1620809I suppose when you call a forum "General Chat" one might think you could discuss just about anything you wanted. Politics and religion are always tricky subjects as they both rely on faith more than demonstrable facts. Nobody wins those arguments. Personally I couldn't care less nor be offended by what anyone has to say about anything. I'm way too old to take anyone's opinion personally and nothing particularly offends me these days.

Stay safe everyone.
August 14, 2020 at 6:43 PM #1620872If blame for this pandemic is to be leveled at any specific government, it should be against the Chinese government (the CCP, not the Chinese people who are innocents in all of this). No other country is responsible for allowing this pandemic to globalize, as some people (most likely folks who have taken unwarranted politically-charged stances) have indicated. Had the CCP been forthcoming about what was happening early on, instead of throttling their people who were attempting to warn the world, this pandemic might not have had such dire consequences for the global population ... and, even worse for all of us, the WHO only served as the mouthpiece for the lies the CCP fed them. But a virus is a virus, and it has no nationalistic, political, racial, or cultural biases.
While this doesn't absolve the rest of the world for action or inaction in combating the virus, it does indicate that the CCP has never operated with the best interest of their own people or the world's population in mind. It absolutely cannot be trusted to play honestly and nicely with the rest of the world.
