When the coronavirus turned up in New Zealand they went to lockdown, started restictions and testing and hammered out the coronavirus, so by the end of April it was gone.
So those lucky Kiwis came out of lockdown and went on to enjoy 101 days of no more signs of coronavirus.
They were finally living a normal FREE life with no restrictions. I mean everything was open again, big sport and rugby was back, night clubs, and pubs were pumping, there was no social distancing.
It was 101 days of normal daily life, and life was good, life was back.
But then out of nowhere, 4 brand new cases pop up within a family and suddenly the whole country goes into lockdown with all the usual restrictions going into place. These 4 people have not travelled anywhere, they seem to feel ok but once again a whole nation shuts down effecting peoples jobs, their lives and their future gets turned upside down.
101 days corona free normal life.........then next day its back to a lockdown...... Unbelievable!!

And 13 new cases in Auckland today. The four cases that apparently appeared out on nowhere are a big worry. Makes you wonder if there's a lot more symptom-less people than we think walking around giving it to others.

    It's not amazing ...
New Zealand is a beautiful island, and lives mainly from livestock, with sheep grazing on its fertile lands, from agriculture, fishing, etc: That is, from the primary food sector. I do not know the percentage of GPB, ASF or similar, but must be greater than 75%. (Don't pay too much attention to me, which is my supposed data .., but the figure will be close ..)
If we have about 5 million people (+/-) on the island, (Keep an eye on this, it is an island !!!), if some people are infected, distrust in the handling of meat or wool, goes to be tremendous in economic repercussion.
How many people use a hygienic mask in New Zealand? Are hydroalcohlic gels not used? Think that in Spain, we are having a worse time, after months. All with masks, and sanitary gels in their hands. (There is always the fool on duty who does what happens to his balls or cunt ..)
People forget a sanitary protocol, faced with this horrifying pandemic, and live the same as before: To dance to discos, to bars, to touch ...
19 people on an island are more dangerous than 1000 in a country without a coastline.
    Reflect on the exhibition.
(This doesn't have much to do with Daz though ...).

I'm sceptical. It's not to say I'm a non believer of Covid-19, it's just the way governments around the world have reacted that makes me wonder if it really is as bad as they suggest.
Figures being massaged down doesn't give me confidence either.

nobertz, I'm sorry to reply to you again (Even if it's not in the same post, and this one has nothing to do with Daz, no little dresses, no poses ...: It's too real.)
It is this unethical, denialist attitude that favors the rage of this virus.
The majority opinion in the different countries is that "the Government" creates alarm.
Ah! Magnificent thought. As it is similar to "Nazi propaganda", I must already be so stupid to think that personal liberties are not guaranteed. "Everything is manipulated ..".
I don't know about you, but I have a very strong scientific training. That denotes "a weak thought."
And, I regret this sentence: - "You are living right now in another galaxy, not stepping on this planet ..."

One of my mates on FB lives there. Somewhere in the south island.

I do feel slightly annoyed that they have a good prime minister (compared to scomo). I'm more annoyed at those who don't take the restrictions serious. My rule at the moment is stay healthy. Hopefully things in Melbourne will improve. I'll just continue with making my art. That has kept me sane so much over the past months - with the dirt ideas that run through my head.

I can only say that due to the inaction of the U.S. government, the end of this plague is far away

I live in WA and I'm so glad that McGowan has shut the borders for us. We're down to our last active case, no new cases in over two weeks and things are gradually reopening, we're almost at phase 5 though I'm still leary of heading back into the office cause I have some respiratory issues.

Watching Melbourne and having colleagues in our Melbourne office has been heartbreaking and disappointing, heartbreaking that it's gotten so much worse over there and disappointment in the anti-maskers for not thinking of the greater good.

I've been watching the local news a lot and I wish people weren't so selfish. But hey... I at least have the freedom to choose to put the health and safety of the wider community ahead of any concerns for restrictions upon myself and my family.

Stay home and stay safe <3

How did the actions/inactions of the US government impact New Zealand? I see this thread going off the rails quickly and ending badly.

    No need to apologize.

Please don't assume anything about me, my beliefs, or background.
I've seen things you'll never see, much of what I've witnessed would make you cry like a child.

I wear a mask when out. I don't read BS news. And I know government incompetence when I see it. We humans are to blame. You want to live in an unsustanable consumer world, this is what you get.

As for Covid-19 in your homeland, blame your leaders who favour material wealth and money over your lives.

    Have a nice day.

I find this post enriching, from our different points of view and personal and / or public situations. We believe that the planet, our individual country, our city, our neighborhood, is the best to preserve. Unfortunately (or fortune ...), it is not. It may be that the vast majority of participants in this website are privileged (because we have a more or less "normal" economic standard of living -this word is very telling ...-), and we have internet, drinking water in a faucet in the kitchen, a bathroom, etc ...
The reality is very different and of great contrasts on this planet. We easily forget (or we don't want to know ...) that there are huge problems such as hunger, wars, emigrants in the situation of fleeing their nation for political or religious needs or reasons, or, even the most stupid, if you are homosexual. .
The COVID19 problem is not something of a country. It belongs to all humanity. Whether they are Kiwis or Peruvians ... We all live under the same Sun.
And, with forgiveness, this topic should not be dealt with here. For that there are other social networks. I respect opinions, but not the means of communication on a website aimed at "dolls in suits .."

You're telling me things I already know, much of it I've known for a long time with my own observations.

Listen, you're preaching to the wrong person. And if you want to debate the mess the globe is in I suggest you find a place to do so since a forum with “dolls in suits ..” isn't to your liking. Good luck with finding such a place since free speech has almost gone on the intenet, or has been heavily censored.

@abad Thank you for being the topic police.. Fortunately, this website is not run by you. This is a "General Chat" post, ie; "Definition of general

Entry 1-3 :not confined by specialization or careful limitation" - Merriam Webster Dictionary

Now back to the conversation. My opinion : This pandemic here in the states has caused havoc. Not just the virus itself, but it has also opened an even greater divide between citizens. Our government , BOTH parties, have used it as a political weapon instead of just dealing with the virus itself. Shame on our government for pitting individuals against each other and driving this country into the ground. Its not like we have enough issues already. Our government has prolonged this pandemic by not working as a whole. Our country is run by dumb-asses and the rest of the world is shaking their heads.
I commend the government of Kiwi for their swift actions. This virus is not airborne. Its contagious via human interaction. The fact that one can be a carrier and NOT be aware because of no symptoms, makes it even worse. Until the world finds a vaccine, every human on the planet is at risk.

    @Dragon

I appreciate your first had observations and experience regarding Covid-19.

Now I'm not saying it doesn't exist, far from it.
Personally I don't know a soul who has had it. Of course I hear everyday that some person knows some other person who has. And the fact it's been used in many people's eyes by governments to manipulate and frighten the masses, plus the fact it's been used to cover up the global financial mess, and hand more power to the state and corporations, made me think this just could be the greatest hoax, and power grab in human history.
Call it fascism in disguise if you will.

Forgive me for being a sceptic, it's in my nature.

@norbertz I understand. No worries. I personally don't believe Covid is a hoax. It started before the political weaponization. I also don't believe its a global political conspiracy. I mean that would be an undertaking on a beyond gargantuan scale to have every nation on the planet come together to plan this. We can't even agree on climate change.
Also, I'm speaking of the US only in regards to the political crap. I can't speak for any other nation.
I DO know people who have had Covid 19 . Ones who have recovered and others who have died. One who had it and recovered is my cousin. Sadly, they are on the divided saying they don't believe in a mask and its all a hoax. Um.. OK. We grew up together and I love them dearly but, WHAT? You had it yet its a hoax? I blame the government for that mentality because of the division. And no matter what, they will not change their minds and admit they were wrong.
I've listened to the politicians and all they do is blame each other instead of working as one to combat this. Hence, crap rolls down hill and now citizens are pointing fingers and are divided even more.
