My story is the opposite as I started liking this for porn, then got over it quickly. I actually use Daz for stuff to try to actually call myself an artist. Hell, I even post stuff on other forums (F95), and people know me as the guy who doesn't like the sex stuff. While its great for those who enjoy it, the sex stuff is limited to what you can create. To me its as if I had one of the best chefs working at my restaurant, but I'm telling him to only cook basic cheeseburgers and nothing else. That might be popular, but so much potential is wasted. However, I am creating my own story but forcing myself to have sex stuff in because lets be honest, that is what people want in there daz stories. Going on 18 months now with Daz, and I still feel that way. Came for the porn, stood for actual art. Hell, even the stuff I create is stuff I can show off at my job and say, 'check out what I did this weekend.' I'm surprised at how many coworkers have great ideas on what could be done. I thank Daz for introducing me to this world where I can actually feel like an artist.

Yes. It comes down to personal perspectives, what appeals & what doesn't.
If it gives you pleasure & harms no one else, I think that is fine.

Wait... this was NOT a sarcastic / ironic post?

Someone actually believes that creating porn in DAZ is... an addiction? What the ACTUAL fuck?!?

I read the original post and went.. "haha"... then I read most of the comments and went... "wait... wtf is up with people?"

First of all, you seriously need to reevaluate your interpretation of the word "addiction".

    ...
Meh, I can't even be bothered.

I wanna post the "this is not an airport" meme, but I can't even be arsed doing that. I'll just go back to creating porn / porn games, with DAZ, thank you very much.

I know the feeling about this post. But I don't create porn with this app because it would only be shown to me so why bother making it unless I have a really good story to use nudity for. Since I'm not a good story teller that's not really going to happen.

I'm addicted to playing dress up...

I have some overly sexualized characters (see cowboy woman on this site's homepage) but I never post them online nude because I notice on my Instagram the nuder the model the less likes I get. The lowest I've gone is a bikini and a latex outfit but I don't think I would ever post a lingerie or panties\bra unless there's a story context to it which again I doubt I'll ever do.

There's to many women in my family and my Facebook page has to many female friends who like my work. If I push my fetish there then there would be no point in me creating anything because they will tell me directly how perverted I am. I already get stares that I play dress up to many women (not my fault women fashion is more fun to play with). Showing Nudity on this site to me is just one big pointless circle jerk, what nude image can I really post that I know the billions of other users hasn't already posted...

Anyway, I got hired to create amazon product advertising using this app. The company I work for like the artwork I created for this site art contest that they hired me to create "scenes" to put their products into to place on product pages on Amazon.

If I was only posting nude images I don't think I would ever get any job offers. But then again I bet there's people who get jobs creating nude art for Porn companies. If they pay more I would create nude art in an instant!

The way "I" see it if you can't show your work to your friends, family or a random passerby with a straight face there might be a problem. But then again if you want to make stuff for just yourself then that shouldn't be a problem just understand to other it might be a problem.

    To each their own.

Pron in itself is addicting. Ive deleted Gigs of it to slowly replace it with gigs again. Its an off and on addiction. I can put it away for weeks or months and it seems to eventually come back. I quit smoking easier but pron is always a click away. Not really sure whats wrong with appreciating the female body but, it can go a bit to far.
Ive no interest in pixels of pixels. If Im going to watch pron its going to be "real" people not toons. Even if I get to the point of reality Im aiming for, Ive no interest in having mini godzilla rape a lolly or pretending my asain babe is in my torture lab.

I guess it can be for some people that fantasize. I miss AD+D but I never took it as real. Even tried LARPing for a bit but it became lame quickly. I decided to break out and render men every so often and dont feel gay about it. In games I often play a woman since Id rather not stare at a pixelated male ass all day.

Addiction? something you do when you should be doing other stuff. Inteferes with your daily life. Yeah, i have addiction in the family, i'm the lucky i think. Mine isn't alcohol or drugs. Just as long as it's kept in check, and you are honest to your self about it. I just remember all the scenes in the xfiles relating to fox's porn fetishes lol. yeah, fuck it. Loud and proud.

coukd be addicted to cracking your knuckles. It only annoy others. It probably classifies as a disease when its excessive like washing your hands till they bleed. Possible something that makes you sick if you cant do it. So perhaps it not so much an addiction its more of a bad habit.

Praxiteles made the sculpture of Aphrodite in the 4th century BC. It was the first female full-figure nude ever.

When a young man saw it he "became so aroused by the statue that he forced himself upon it, leaving the stain of lust on her thigh".

He later threw himself over a cliff to his death in shame.

There are a lot of good points made here - and it is a great shame that something that probably started out as a past time / hobby should develop into such an, apparently, harmful addiction.
Unfortunately it is not the programs fault - so many ordinary things can be misused, and lead to a much darker path.
Some consolation is in recognizing that, and taking steps to move away from that addiction.
But, just like many areas, it might be wrong to completely distance yourself from it - better to try a small exposure. Maybe with someone to encourage developing the more acceptable side of things, and not be tempted to stray while alone.

I have terrabytes of Daz stuff [confessed hoarder] but have no interest in the seedy side of the 3D world.
If it is NSFW it can stay off my systems.

When my new laptop arrives, soon, I will begin using it for concept art for a sci-fi book [trilogy] that i hope to finish writing one day. Maybe someone will publish it - maybe it will all be just for my satisfaction [might even end up as self-published ebook??].

MicroBaked, I hope you find your path, and get to use whatever skills you developed over the last few years.
Find the gentle side of this "awful addiction!" and let it bring you more comfort in the future.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their support!

Things were pretty empty, and uninspiring for awhile after dropping it. In all honesty, I was so fed up with it that Daz3d didn't even come to mind for a good Week or two.

I've recently happened across stuff on reddit about Proper Lighting, and that reminded me about all this stuff, heh!

As far as the Addiction side of things go, Thankfully I never got into the really messed up kinda stuff (basically everything ever posted by Davos xD, that stuff was all really messed up to me))

For me it was more of an addiction based on the 3D female form. We would get a new G8F, and I'd want to mix and match different Morphs with that character. And because every single skin texture that is released with G8F's have details for all the "private areas" when it came to detailing them with the rest of the character, you know, all them other thoughts would pour in. And before I knew it, id have wasted 5+ hrs of my day making a character, and then putting her in some sort of lewd position, with or without another character.

It was these veer-offs from the original intent that was driving me insane after the fact. Before I knew it, I'd be going at some scene, getting all the lighting, all the environment variables, editing textures, sub surfaces... etc. Until the scene was as great as I possibly could make it. Then I'd waste hours Rendering the animation.

Luckly, I promised myself that all these lewd things would only be for my eyes, and I would never spread/share them to others. That promised held true. The only thing I ever shared were characters clothed, or just their heads to show progress on a character that was still being made. I'm really glad I never crossed that line.

But that gaze on the female form, when I was sound of mind, id realize it wasn't healthy. In my mind that sort of interpretation is only ever meant for a girlfriend or wife. (I'm an extremely self-strict individual) So the fact that I continued to waste time with this, time and time again, drove me up the wall in the end. Luckly my life still stood as it was before, but the changes on the inside of who I was, and who I saw myself to be, degraded substantially. Which led to depression. Being fully fed up with all my actions on the matter, I decided the best route was to ensure, that if I ever decided to start this all back up, it would require me to go through hours and hours of re-downloading, and installing, that or file recovery on the hdd's that held the information. This time consuming process in the end will hopefully give me the time to realize that going down this path again will likely lead to the same outcome. And to hopefully stop!

I do want to thank everyone again for the support.

PS: To those relating real life and the Animated, or 3DCG part to one another. In the adult sense, I understand, I heavily prefer RL over 3D. However, in my mind I had to keep them separated, and it made sense as a loophole, If what I created wasn't real, that way it would never spread into the real world as thought provoking matters in my everyday life. Which stands to this day. My mind is unaltered by seeing actual female forms, in which when looking at an attractive women, my mind never falls into the places that I made exist with-in the 3D world. They are two completely separate things. I ensured this, in order for Real life to never get tangled. Like I said, I'm really strict with myself, and the logic that surrounds my world. But as such, I can find loopholes with it. And it was the time wasted, and the prolonged lustful gaze that eventually drove my mental state into the ground.

Dunno if that PS made much sense. To simplify, 3D and RL are separate things with similar natures. By ensuring they were separated in my mind, it allowed for all the scenes and actions done within Daz3d, to never leak into my perspective of the world around me, and the people that reside with in it. This gave me free will to go wild in Daz3D, which eventually led to my depression.

    @creationz

I'm a little late to this party, but I have actually modeled simple angle iron sign frames and sign cabinet extrusions in 3DS Max and rendered them in Daz for use in a sign supply catalog. And although I'm strictly Illustrator to design logos and signage, and FlexiSign to rip and print, I have injected lifesize representations of signage into Daz environments with Daz characters to show scale.

Mostly, though, I create scenes and post them on DeviantArt.

    @btw12345

Don't give it up! Look for inspiration in real life all around you. Possibilities are endless and definitely can go way beyond adult material.
