Hey all,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm done with Daz3D.
Most of you will go, "Who cares..."
My reason for posting this, is that if any of you are like me, or have done as I have done in the past. Daz3d Has gone from a hobby to an awful addiction. It feels like a month ago I started into Daz3d for positive reasons. To make a story, animate it, create distinguished characters. Something memorable, and enlightening. Create great and vast stories, that blows your mind. Its been 2yrs now. Wasted. It (along with some other life complications) has literally drove me to the point of not knowing who exactly I am anymore. All it takes is a bit of kick in the wrong direction, and you start falling. And the fall is vast.
The me, you may be wondering, if it relates to you in anyway shape or form?...
The Me has become the Adult Sections of the Daz3D communities. To put all this simply. I have gone from brilliant intentions, to a lustful gaze of how hot I can make a scene. The sad part is, I've known this for some time. Yet I continued to drive myself down a road that would lead to my own despair. Simply because every scene I made, gave me some kicks. Some may disagree with this. Some may only have this. Some may remotely/completely relate. Some may have actually used Daz3D as a tool for some form of actual intelligent purposes outside the Adult scene.(For this I commend you. For you have done that which I have horribly failed at.)
My last hope from this disgusting habit of mine.. The only redeeming thing that might come of it.. Is that anyone that might be running down this road, or has just gotten started, or has been on it for some time. I hope that in some way this thread might encourage you to put your addiction to rest. And move on with life, as I am just starting to.
Who knows, I may some day find the steadfastness required to start the program up again, and actually use it for some good in this world. But for now. I have deleted my 2tb collection of assets, and about 100gbs of saved data for Daz3d. And will no longer look at my computer as place of lustful thoughts. Instead, it will return to that place of fun games, friends, and nostalgia.
PS: You may think to yourself, I have more control then that. A few peeks here and there isn't an addiction. Nor is it wrong. But let me tell you my friend. A few peeks will only hold you over for so long. You will want more. Humans are greedy, and curious. You will begin to devise ways of becoming more creative for your own eyes. Some eye candy here, and eye candy there. Before you know it, 2yrs has past, and you barely recognize yourself from who you were when you started. This world is a slippery slope. When someone points you to the trail that leads to the least amount of pain and despair. At the very least, consider it.
I wish you all the very best.
MicrobakedAugust 21, 2019 at 9:50 AM #1211901Relatable as i'm just starting to threading the path of adult scene,I'm always question about whether i go back or not,i know that this path will be potentially be path of no-return that the time i wasted for this can be used for other meaningful things like job seeking, in other hand, this path is also potentially my savior in term of passion of life and finance
August 21, 2019 at 10:11 AM #1211920Is there anyone here who uses Daz3d for signs, graphics, decals or anything other than porn? I would like to here some of your stories on how you use Daz3d. Personally I think Daz is a great reference tool for artists and a perfect previz tool for concept art.
August 21, 2019 at 10:51 AM #1211971probably there some person out there that doing that, but there program that more specialized for making sign,or decal, usually in making sign or decal, client prefer the use of Vector art to preserve the print quality on material
for artist reference, if we talking about character, Daz is pretty great references even if you use it for 2D illustration, but it the end, rules 34 of internet applies, everything that can be used to make porn will make porn.
The problem is Porn lead to addiction, and every addiction is mostly bad, currently there no cure for that except letting go of things that can lead to porn, and this is what plagues us, Artist.

Explain to me ,more what you mean. Sorry, Not trying to hijack the original discussion but sometimes one thing leads to another.
August 21, 2019 at 11:48 AM #1212015@creationz: I mean client as in customer,I have a friend that doing sign, sticker and decal as part of their printing business, they mostly use Vector Art program like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw as many customer prefer the format over pixel based format, granted nowadays with the dawn of High resolution and powerful GPU, the issue of preservation of quality is maybe not that significant like decade ago. In short, i think if people goes on Sign, sticker,or decal, people will not go to Daz as their first choice. For more information, you can read about Vector vs Raster in printing.
@bty12345: Call me shameless, but i'm open for points donation if you don't have the use for the points anymore, thanks you.August 21, 2019 at 12:12 PM #1212037I asked because I do sign printing. I own a sign printing business and found that with at least 300 dpi, depending on viewing distance, I can get great results. I increase the resolution if the viewer is going to be close. I like vector because it is light on resources but it has its limitations.
August 21, 2019 at 2:03 PM #1212143Exactly.
There is no harm provided it is kept in balance.
As long as a sharp distinction is maintained between reality & fantasy.

I'm using it for illustrations. Using renders as a starting point for paintings.

August 21, 2019 at 4:32 PM #1212341@zumba I think those are brilliant.
3d pron is pointless when you can DL real people in 4k movies for free.
I quit Daz for several years and mostly render an actual image a few times a month. I bulk hoard downloads even if ill never use them, which is most of the time. I only uses a few textures characters and environments out of gigs of stuff.
The pirate community here isnt a community any more. Not sure what you call it. when I first started it was about sharing. Now Ive no idea what its about. People rarely want to post renders and the mods have to be begged to care.
Most of these post will be in the wild seconds after being here but I still come here for the people. Thats slowly been changing.
August 21, 2019 at 5:20 PM #1212403That's what I'm talking about, Zozo. I use a 27" HD touch Wacom to do all my artwork from Daz.
August 21, 2019 at 5:39 PM #1212426I'm using Intuos 3 and my graphic card is Radeon HD 7400 with a widow-making 256MB of RAM 🙂
August 21, 2019 at 6:17 PM #1212478widow making because it's so slow?? 😀 Been there...
My motherboard has built in Intel graphics connected to a re-purposed laptop screen that I use for the Daz GUI, I have a GTX 1060 6gig connected to a Dell 27" that I use for the viewport, and I have a GTX 1070 8gig that isn't connected to anything to power the render engine.August 21, 2019 at 9:15 PM #1212655Some of the adult stuff posted here is just, simply put, vomit inducing. But hey, to each their own.
August 21, 2019 at 11:14 PM #1212775@bty12345 I understand. I'm honestly sorry that you've found yourself in this situation. Its very easy to get into and before you know it, so much time has passed.
That being said, I'm very proud of you for recognizing you have an addiction and are wanting to work on it and recover from it. I know it took a lot to come here and admit it.
One piece of advice I can give you is, when, if, you feel yourself slipping, play the tape.
Playing the tape is , in your mind, you play the memories of when you began to when you stopped and realized you had an addiction and you remember why you want to stop. Remembering the consequences of the addiction. You have to play the tape to the end though.Best of success in your recovery.
