As for V4, the last time I used Vicky was for Ero’s Project Evolution many years ago.

I wanted to use that one. Erogenesis was a genius judging by the demo images. I couldn't use it because I didn't have Poser, and the figure just blew up in Daz Studio whenever I loaded it. I assume that was because it was made to take advantage of Python.

The last time I actually used Victoria 4 on a day-to-day was 2014 I think. Right when G3 came out, which convinced me to make the leap almost a decade after I started using Victoria 4. I managed to move all my favorite characters to the Genesis line pretty quickly.

Looking back, I cannot help but notice how dang HARD it was to make Victoria 4 look like anything other than a gangly creature with a tiny head and overly-broad shoulders.

@frank22 You're welcome ~ I'm using V4 nowadays mostly for converting her garments and high heels to G8/G9 as I still love quite a few good stuff of that age..😆

(no, really, it could be done, but it wasn't anywhere near as easy as it is these days.)

I have to admit I feel the same. In fact even many of today's figures, male and female, seem to have disproportionally small heads. Maybe they're anatomically correct but they look too small to me... usually have to up the size a bit.

Don't see any good reason to use V4 over G3. Since G3 and G8 can interact reasonably well I see little reason to use G3 (in most cases). I don't have the eye some people have for detail but G8.1 seems fine using most stuff for the G series. So, I have G3,8,8.1 to choose from and those have better morphs and textures. The only thing I miss is some V4 clothing that was unique and a handful of characters. Compare the newer characters in the stores and I can't see why anyone would choose to use V4 willingly. At least one of the creators I enjoyed is making G3+ content so even less of a reason for me. V4 is installed and when I get very bored, I might give her something to do but it's rare. The only character I truly missed was the Daz troll.
Clothing conversions would be a welcome share.

In quite a few of my renders I do have characters bent near or over their joint limits (no explanation needed 😜), so a figure that bends better is usually better for me.

Decided to give G8.1 a render because I was thinking about the Troll. I don't recall M4 ever looking this good for me. He is skinned with 8.0 texture and 8.1 shader. Small image but I don't render large files very often.

    About 10% of my characters and work is with M4 and V4, another 10% is Genesis, 20% G2, 55% G3, and 5% other. I actually use Vicky 3 more than G8 and I won't even touch 8.1 or 9.

G3 is my go-to because it natively does everything and imports from everything. I can't get 8 to play well with 8.1, yet I have carnomoloch and res mortifera conversions to G3M? Enough said.

But V4 and M4 definitely have their place. They are the easiest to sculpt new morphs for, the easiest to distort and re-rig right in the app. Almost as easy as Genesis (1) to slap geografts onto.

Only for certain aliens and/or creatures which don't exist in the genesis generations, although you can use Genesis Generation X to convert. I am just too lazy to bother.

i'm 10000% the same mind as what @oldwolf said here - i needed a freaky alien and an M4 character worked for me. I converted a G9 character i liked to G8 and it pretty much worked (yikes the eyes are tricky) but it took a lot of time and effort. there are some Genesis characters i want to convert but just the memory of using the Genx scripts gives me nightmares.

I assumed people still used Generation 3 and 4 characters. They'd still make some great characters, with a recoat of PBR skins and iray materials on clothing.

Wow. If people aren't using them, it would speed up my pipeline, as I wouldn't have to make animations for them, when converting animation assets from Unreal/Unity to Daz Studio. 🤔
