I was looking at some older content for Michael 4 tonight - there was some good stuff that I had forgotten.
I never used M4 or V4 other than some older clothing which usually works pretty well for me.
I just wondered if any of you still use those figures these days...
April 23, 2023 at 9:25 AM #1960490Not really. I just use them for conversions

April 23, 2023 at 11:48 AM #1960582I concur the other converters. V4 has a bunch of great looking ladies. Having them on my favorite generations are always a treat.
April 23, 2023 at 3:30 PM #1960674Yes, I am still hoping for a decent script to take the more stunning V4 characters direct to G8.
RSA promised it but never delivered!
🙁
April 23, 2023 at 3:41 PM #1960682Clothes and hair are my biggest reasons for keeping the creaky old Poser runtime around, and not just for V4. A lot of pre V4 accessories are often easily refreshed with the right textures and a bit of subdivision, So it makes sense to keep them around.
April 23, 2023 at 5:41 PM #1960714i also use V4 and M4 regularly, they still have their charms . . especially when it comes to head morphs, because the higher base resolution is superior to G3/8/9.
April 23, 2023 at 5:58 PM #1960717There are some of the M4 characters that where great, especially SAV models from rendo. I used wrap3d to convert a g9 to g8.1. i wonder if i could use it to convert m4 to g9 or g8.1?

Yes, nearly the same workflow ~ but as M4 has 68k vertices and is taller than G8M/G9, better make good alignment for the figures before wrapping, so as to prevent distortions and lessen the workload of fixing.Another workflow for M4-G8M could be GenX to G3M + G3M-G8M converter.
April 24, 2023 at 1:30 AM #1960819Probably a dumb question but here goes.... I've seen some high poly (STL) realistic busts of celebrities and wonder if they could be used with wrap3d to transfer the head shape to a Daz model? Or is wrap3d only good for between Daz/Poser models?
April 24, 2023 at 9:25 AM #1960965Technically they could but practically that'll be nearly a 'mission impossible':
- wearables on bust are 'welded' with figure.. They have to be separated or isolated
- High poly STL has quite a lot of vertices/faces that have to be decimated and remeshed before converting to obj
- Using a Base resolution Daz figure as floating geometry to wrap highpoly mesh will be doomed. The better way is to use Daz high SubD figure + that notorious MultiResolutionMorphSupport plugin...April 24, 2023 at 10:17 AM #1960984I've had some success using the morph brush in poser with head sculpts and other models to generate morphs for Gn8 and 9. Additional tweaking and initial setup are mandatory but it gets the mesh close.
April 24, 2023 at 2:54 PM #1961148I do. Spent far too much money over the years to start over now.
April 24, 2023 at 5:29 PM #1961190I still use V4. M4 not so much as I am hooked on women, so to speak. But even though I have a ton of stuff downloaded for both V/M4 there's still a bit on my wishlist.
I'm just sincerely more at home with the Poser interface.
I love the new DS figures, clothes, etc. But just really haven't made the full time transition because of the interface.April 24, 2023 at 7:31 PM #1961210Thanks for your reply to my question Richard.
As for V4, the last time I used Vicky was for Ero's Project Evolution many years ago. -
