    @LivingPixels

I would have loved to have a 750 GTX when I were a lad πŸ™‚ - I modelled a scene with a church, and a few other things, created a path for the camera, and hit render. 30 seconds is about 750 frames ( or nine hundred ). Well, that first frame took all night to do. So that would have been 2 and a half years or so to render a 30 second animation at 480 by 320 resolution or so. Oh yes, I know about limitations of machines, this was an old amiga around 30 years ago. But ever since, like many others I always want more than my machine can give. Luckily now I have an RTX 2080 Ti which crunches the numbers pretty good but I want two πŸ˜›

And like you, I don't like to see stuff that has been rendered out of the box, so to speak, I like to see a bit of creativity. Even if people play around with creating their own textures, its a start. Trans maps as well, that kind of thing.

As for dForce, its good but could be better. You are right in that nVdia are looking at the games market and not us. I am hoping one day we get real time 'proper' raytracing in DS.

Right, off to prepare to post something but first need to warn people about it, because it uses dForce but if you get it wrong, explosions will happen πŸ™‚

    Regards,

Some of us are both interested in stuff like making DForce work and have the time to play around with it, and other times just want a simple one click solution to get a scene done, especially if you have several hundred scenes to complete.
It's great if you are so expert that you can do everything by hand yourself, but don't denigrate those who also would like simpler solutions to scene creation.

    Damn Dude.
As far as I can tell we have the privilege of listening to a master or two speak here.
When that happens you don't tell them to shut up!

    Damn Dude.
As far as I can tell we have the privilege of seeing the opinion of someone who has been a member of the zone for a while and now chooses to express an opinion … When that happens you don’t tell them to shut up! πŸ™‚

OK. I am joking but @francetst does have a right to do things their way and @LivingPixels does have a right to do things their way AND yes, we are lucky if we have people who have good knowledge and understanding of DS AND are happy to share that knowledge.

As @ulysses Says, there is no right or wrong ( for the most part ) here.

    Regards πŸ™‚

I get it. What I wrote can be read with a double meaning. In your joke I am telling him to shut up. In my intended meaning I was expressing that when someone is teaching one listens. No disrespect intended. ✌️

Great job! What could I be doing wrong? tried but with the girl lying on the ground and the panty hanging on the right- Adjusted without merging, added dforce modified dynamic surface. An set the values you mentiones. But after running simulation the panties went up and got deformed. Thx

On a sort of related issue, I am a great fan of the vendors that trouble to make dress / undress morphs for their garments.
A few that spring to mind:
Ambrosia, JaMaRe, Kaluma, some Kaleya stuff & XtrArt-3D.
Admittedly some attempts are more successful than others, but the above mentioned are usually pretty solid.

I find dforce pretty hit or miss for getting the look you are after in a reasonable amount of attempts. The mesh grabber morph add on looks pretty useful, but requires you to have already successfully run your dforce sequence. :0/

I know some people have problems with dForce so here are some pantie props that you can put on the floor or hang off a leg/ankle.
I don't think they've been posted here so if anyone wants to get points for this feel free to post them.
Don't try to dForce them, it won't work.

Thanks LP. I basically try to stick with dForcable things as much of those that aren't will explode or freeze DS during simulation. The panties I posted have two surface layers which aren't happy about being simulated. The problem with the dForcable panties is that they often have no trims (separate material zones for waistband/legs) and look unrealistic. And of course if they're not dForce they'll often head off into stupid directions when dForced.
Just give a man some decent dforcable women's underwear and they'll be happy as Larry. It can't actually be that hard to do.

    Hi all,
this is a very interesting and useful discussion, I appreciate contributions showing expertise and modesty which is the case here (far better than on DAZ forums, what a strange world where pirates are more helpful than legit companies). Particular thanks to Living Pixels in this regard.
However you mentioned that posing a figure was done in two minutes.... I am really surprised, posing (exactly I mean) in DS is very painful and time consuming as IK and pins are poorly implemented, a complex multi character pose requires almost an hour from scratch (adjusting all those muscles without exceeding bending limits and morph coherence). And dforce is also a computer nightmare generally not the worth of lost time. I have tried to learn DS for 5 years and I may be pretty bad at it actually... However I do not think it is so easy (consider the horrible problems with loading characters and the pain in setting correct custom file systems : almost impossible for a beginner, the moment he uses DazConnect he is doomed). Not a rant, just a point of view from a dispirited user (PS I need a fast production flow to illustrate my horror RPG scenarios, game rules and VN). Thanks again for this great discussion.

I must have some sort of system sweet-spot because for me dForce and DS in general works totally smoothly. I don't get freezes or crashed unless I do something completely stupid. Virtually all of my renders take no longer than 20-25 minutes at the most after I've set them up properly. "Properly" being the operative word meaning you need to set up your scenes and tweak many things, lighting the most important, before you even think about rendering. With the newer models that bend better one shouldn't have posing problems but of course you will need to tweak any poses...preset poses have only ever been a starting point.
I never use Connect or any other dodgy in-house shite because everything I have is not bought in-store and is pirated. Best not to advertise that fact to Daz.

Also, if you do manual install, it enables you to organise your content in a way that makes sense to you, not subject to the vagaries & whim of the vendor, who often never does things the same way twice.

Stating the obvious, but once you have a pose right for the character & or scene, save it as a custom .duf πŸ™‚

Thanks for the various remarks, regarding the duration of my posing work it may be due to the fact that I never use the "gizmo", i find it too much imprecise (in fact I am very awkward, almost lacking fine motricity) so I use the dials extensively (and it is time consuming). Pins do not work very well in Studio, I have lost good poses several times because of their failing... Also custom pose duf are painful to save with the morph loading problem lag (same for zeroing), you have to uncheck unused morphs to save time (and it is easy to forget this). Again, interesting conversation !)

There are several panties with undress morphs and poses at renderotica. I know two by Kaluma:

    G-String Tanga For G8F Iray

    https://zonegfx.com/kalumas-sweet-panties-for-genesis-8-female/

They do not have "on floor" morphs, but I never had problem to add dForce to something as simple as a panty and just drop it on the floor. More, it is very possible that Kaluma used dForce for them and the success is certain. After that convert it to a morph to reuse it without the sim time. There is a recent asset that makes this conversion straightforward.
