Anyone been brave enough to do 4.15 yet? If so, please share your experience. Would love to know that it won't screw everything up too badly. 🙂
January 20, 2021 at 4:48 PM #1659932I find it fine for single frame renders. 🙂
January 20, 2021 at 4:56 PM #1659936I am on 4.15. It really can't be worse than 4.14 lol. If you are using 4.14 go ahead and do 4.15.
January 20, 2021 at 5:03 PM #1659940I went from 4.12 directly to 4.15, one thing I noticed was that the enviroment section was gone from render tab. Took a while to relearn things (Since the daz forum was down for me at the moment).
I still prefer the way it was before.January 20, 2021 at 5:40 PM #1659950@mthom the environment and tonemapping being moved to the scene tab is the absolute worse change they could've implemented. I am still waiting on them to fix that.
January 20, 2021 at 6:04 PM #1659953I'm on 4.14 now, so sounds like going to 4.15 isn't the worst thing I can do. 🙂 I think I'll just bite the bullet then.
January 20, 2021 at 6:09 PM #1659956@baconsmoke I always use a fresh install and keep my old Daz version as backup.
January 21, 2021 at 8:27 AM #1660107Is 4.15 available as a stand-alone DL?
Without having to DL through DIM... Not seeing it anywhere though my DS account.January 21, 2021 at 8:45 AM #1660116@fuzzy3000 I don't think they are using standalone DLs anymore. Only downloads are through DIM or the new DazCentral. I recommend you use DazCentral since you can set up a new folder for the installation and it doesn't install all the useless crap that DIM does.
January 21, 2021 at 9:46 AM #1660134You should be able to go to Studio 4.X Pro in your download section and that will be the most current version of studio you can download. I refuse to use DIM or the new dazconnect because it ruins my custom folder setup. I manually download everything to a folder and then remove all the vanity folders and junk before I transfer the items to my main directory. So much easier to go to the shoes folder and find a set of heels instead of trying to remember which vendor made them and searching 30 minutes for them.
January 21, 2021 at 2:34 PM #1660225If daz made all of the artists use the same folder set up it would be a lot easier but there is no standard to anything and then they act all surprised when someone complains about it. I use a custom folder setup that I have to manually go in and set up each time I start using a new version of studio. They try to make DIM and dazcentral so easy to use that they completely take away any ability to customize or streamline away from you.
The way my folders are set up makes things so simple, in clothing I have folders for Fantasy, Lingerie, swimsuits, bodysuits, sci-fi, shoes, dresses and so on. Then once I have unzipped everything I put everything in the appropriate folders before I use them, sure it takes a bit longer but I never have to hunt for anything I know where it will be if I need it.January 21, 2021 at 2:41 PM #1660226If you haven't read it already, this sticky thread may be of interest:
also if you install 'My Library' in a seperate location you won't have to set it up afresh with every DS upgrade.
Both my general release & beta installs access the same 'My Library'
🙂

than click on "my account"
click on "Product library (top left)
use filter search using "Daz Studio 4.x Pro" and press "filter"
you'll find the download page by the resultJanuary 21, 2021 at 7:37 PM #1660278Yes, they make it as awkward as possible for you to download & install things yourself.
