Does anybody have the fix to OoT's hair shader? I heard it was patched to work with Daz 4.22. Does anybody have the files to fix it? My only workaround was to turn off Transmitted Colors for the hair in surfaces. What was OoT's official solution to it?
I hate ads. Creating things is not an opportunity for running ads on creator's back, nor an invitation.
That being said, I'll skip the 4.22 update, no matter how "fast" it might be.
But since this 'ad-mania + onlyfans business model' has infected many areas, it looks like I will not upgrade DAZ from now on.
I am awaiting patiently the ads for watering the crops with Brawndo.A while back someone here sent me a link to a site that has most of the onlyfans sites available for download.
They're cra-a-a-a-a-p! It's shitty photography and videos that all look mostly the same, and you don't really see much more than you get from the free stuff. After watching an endless succession of bouncy vids of ladies dancing to crappy music and maybe showing a bit of side boob, I gave up and never bothered again. Everyone's taking their clothes off and if they want my money they'll have to aspire to higher production values than what's out there now.maybe i'm just lucky but it's running faster for me and G8M loads much faster for me.
i hate how software can be so inconsistent from user to user...

Noob here: I'm paranoid. Is there anything about updating that will tip my hand as far as these assets I have? Some kind of 'phone home' tech? I never sign in. I download via VPN.
I get my schtuff here and I render. Everything is a manual install. Lemme know if there's anything to worry about please.
@dabbler, Absolutely not, you're safe. They did try some online verification thing a few years ago but like everything else Daz does, it flopped miserably. The forums where full of complaints about it and threats to boycott Daz so they dropped it.
I urge you to read Daz's forums and even take part. Buy a few items that you like and share them here to contribute to the pile of other shares. If you're not contributing then you're a leech, a parasite, a hanger-on and nobody likes that. All this stuff comes from someplace.@ethiopia Do you have 4.21.0.5 around? I made the mistake to "upgrade" to 4.22 and it's a disaster. TIA
I keep a sample of around 3 years' worth of releases. Currently my pile goes back to 4.12.1.118 (August 2020 vintage, according to the ctime.)
Anything older tends to be a waste of disk space (and to be honest, anything older than 2-3 versions back end up being useless, but I tend to hoard a little.)
I think I got my hands on the last 4.21. I need to make sure it's not full of viruses.
I'll make sure to backup old version of DS in the future before upgrading. It's the 1st time I have to go back, usually problems with new versions are not show stoppers. This time it's different but I'll have to do some more tests.
Well that is why I asked for a link from trusted members of Zone but so far the only link I have is from FileCR, which I'm told SHOULD BE safe, but still. I unzipped it in a sandbox (Windows VM) to scan and make sure it's legit before I do it on my main computer. So far it looks like it is but I don't like it much TBH. It's sketch.
So if anyone is willing to zip the thing, upload it somewhere and send me a link privately, I would greatly appreciate and I'm willing to send points to say thanks.
I did the upgrade, it was fast loading stuff, but it crashed with big scenes, animate2 was gone ( although I had the serial visible in the " installed plug ins)
Went back to 4.2 for nowFYI, if you don't have the previous working copy of DS ready just-in-case the new one goes wrong, there is one trick you can rely on:
Windows System Restore.

With this, you manually create a system restore point before you install DS. The restore point is a snapshot of your machine's OS and applications before you do anything. This way, if you don't like the way the new install goes, you can revert back to that restore point, and it'll be like the install never even happened.
(Macs have something similar, called Time Machine.)
I prefer using System Restore over manually re-installing an older version. I prefer it because I don't have to worry about a manual reinstall of the older version leaving fragments all around the registry, leaving unused files laying around, or accidentally corrupting anything as it comes across conflicts due to newer supporting files, etc.
Just note: If you don't create a restore point first, you can't use it, so...
