I'll bet we see an uptick of people looking for older version of Studio. We should put that on the front page.
Hmmmmm......October 10, 2024 at 12:36 am #2094842Lol, sometimes shit happens to an orgs network or their provider. I'm not their network engineer. So I'm not going to try finding out what's going on.
But jesus... it feel like some of you guys will say things about DAZ that could not be their fault and say it's them falling apart.
Is this community the anti-fan of DAZ? Because if so, let me know now, so I can save my breath over some of the things I read.
October 10, 2024 at 12:41 am #2094843Largely, it is not outright hatred, more just cynicism generated by the company's history.
October 10, 2024 at 12:43 am #2094844Yes...absolutely. We hate DAZ and have zero respect for the company. Even less now that the Tafi-Vampire is in charge.
Now ask what we think of Poser and it's string of owners....go ahead, I dare ya.October 10, 2024 at 12:46 am #2094845If DS5 ever does arrive & it requires online, subscription, and existing plug ins won't work, just watch the tumbleweed at the launch.
It might be as popular as NFTs & Daz's hobbled AI attempt.

October 10, 2024 at 12:58 am #2094846I would think that the majority of Studio's users are amateurs just playing dolls (like me) and that the only reason it's so popular is because it's free. Charging a subscription will chase most(?) away to maybe AI. Tafi will finally dump Daz, leaving it a shell of it's former self. We will become the repository of content and older versions of Studio. Some creators will continue making items and sell them on private sites and the hobby will limp along until some fan makes a plugin for Blender or one of those game-engine thingies and all that great content finds a new home.
October 10, 2024 at 1:09 am #2094847That is a plausible scenario.
Now that 'Rosity have a well established vendor running the marketing, hopefully it will give that site a boost.
I do think that Poser needs to be put out of it's misery though.

October 10, 2024 at 1:12 am #2094848I think Tafi’s main goal is what a ton of companies end up doing. Getting sold off or going public.
Since Tafi is a private company, the only thing that can happen is getting sold or bought by another company.
October 10, 2024 at 1:14 am #2094850The question is though, is their mindset investors or asset strippers?

October 10, 2024 at 1:16 am #2094851Tafi is nothing but an asset thief. They couldn't give a shit about Daz and Studio.
October 10, 2024 at 1:17 am #2094852Yes, I suspect you are correct. 🙁
October 10, 2024 at 1:18 am #2094853@eelgoo venture capital and private equity groups are the main contributors if you can find financial information on them.
Plus knowing they were part of that Big Tech bank that collapsed earlier, it’s a sign that their main motivation is to get grants and other financial support from Big Tech VCs/PEs
October 10, 2024 at 1:22 am #2094854Yes.
No interest at all in what the company is actually trying to do or doing, just what is it worth to a potential customer.
Not good.

October 10, 2024 at 2:44 am #2094860The plug-ins removed from the store need updates for Premier that are not yet available for installation, Genesis 8/9 AutoFit for example.
Didn't Daz know this before rushing Premier out the door, or could they not give a f*ck? Mind you, broken plug-ins between versions is almost a given so their half-arsed attitude is just business as usual.
It looks like the direction that a lot of things are now going.October 10, 2024 at 6:03 am #2094869One thing that I am happy about is seeing more vendors make their assets available to Genesis 8 also.
I look each day to see if there is anything worth buying with their daily releases. Nothing yet that makes me want to spend money (especially when I have to convert it and that I am trying to reduce how much I spend). Been two weeks since I brought anything online.
